Valentowner waited patiently in the pocket, then roared through the harness racing 'Lightning Lane' to capture Tuesday's $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows at a healthy 5-1.

Greg Grismore pushed Valentowner to the lead, where he stung Southern Allie before yielding to the pocket. That strategy paid off when Valentowner, a bit fresher late, downed Southern Allie by a neck in 1:52. Full Of Sand finished third.

Norm Parker trains Valentowner, a 7-year-old son of Towner's Big Guy-Key's Valentine who vaulted over $500,000 in career earnings, for owner/breeder Bob Key.

Dave Palone drove three winners on the 15-race card.

The Meadows has posted two new videos to its YouTube page featuring driver Aaron Merriman. In Part One, Merriman discusses his recent 5,000th career driving victory.

In Part Two, Merriman talks about his driving strategy
