Harness racing driver Franck Nivard teamed 6.5/1 Vanille du Dollar (7f Magnificent Rodney-Magalie du Dollar) to victory Wednesday in the second leg of the Gr. III Grand National du Trot Paris Turf, a 3000 meter distance handicap event with 16 starters. The total purse was €90,000.

Timed in 1.14.2kr the winner bested three rivals that sought to overcome a 25 meter penalty.

4/5 favorite Viking Blie (7g Prodigious-Idole Blue) was second for trainer/driver Y-A Briand and 30/1 Ursa Major (8f Ganymede-Good Way) landed the third spot ahead of 35/1 Slow du Beauvoisin (10g Jain de Beval-Gina du Beauvoison) and driver Stephane Cingland. 21/1 Urus (8g Kiwi-Troika de Mar) was fifth for Cedrik Terry.

The prestigious GNT series visits many rural venues throughout the summer and fall season before a final at Paris-Vincennes at start of the winter meet. This day’s GNY was the Quinte+ race of the day with a €4 million jackpot.

The same day at Solvalla was the Kentucky Fibbers over 1640 meters autostart with 80,000SEK to the winner. Nuncio (5m Andover Hall-Nicole Isabelle-Lindy Lane) made his 2016 first start an easy winning one for owner/driver Stefan Melander. Timed in 1.10.7kr Nuncio, bred by Russell Williams in Pennysylvania,  took the lead early and battled Oreccechietti before that one tired and was disqualified. Venkatesh (7g Varenne-Honey Face-Viking Kronos) ended second for Orjan Kihlstrom, over eight lengths off the winner. Smilin Eli (6m Muscles Yankee-Gerri’s Joy-Enjoy Lavec) was third for Daniel Reden ahead of fourth finishing Nato Dream (7m Donato Hanover-Nugget Dream-Pine Chip and driver Per Lennartsson.

Saturday’s V75 card is at Solvalla and it includes several events worth 200,000SEK of better to the winners. Top flight horses will be on display such as Donna di Quattro, Blended Scotch, On Track Piraten, Spring Erom and Marta Chip.
