Macterra Lad stepped up again tonight, taking on a couple of proven metropolitan harness racing class performers and beating them at their own game in the first heat of the 4YO entires and geldings’ Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series.
Trained by Alan Tubbs and driven by daughter Amy, Macterra Lad notched his seventh win from 12 starts after sitting outside leader Bryce Cooper throughout before holding off late closer Young Modern (Michael Stanley) by a short half-head at the finish of the 2190m trip.
Sketch Me (Mark Pitt) powered home for third, edging out Bryce Cooper (Josh Aiken) for the final podium spot with the remainder of the beaten brigade finishing well back.
The winner is by Artistic Fella out of Marilyn Macray and rated 1:59.4.
