Assisted by a foe's early break, Victoriahasasecret secured her first harness racing win in 17 starts in The Raceway at Western Fair's Mar. 10 feature conditioned trot.
The five-year-old mare assumed the two-hole under orders from Tyler Borth behind Ten Four We Gone (Austin Sorrie). That pocket ride ended sooner than expected as the leader broke stride passing the quarter in 28.3, handing control to Victoriahasasecret. Borth slowed the tempo to the half in 1:00.1 and three-quarters in 1:30.2 before fending off all members but one of a truncated field down the lane.
Laval Titan (Brett Macdonald), Rose Run Unclebuck (Travis Henry), and Mr Arch (Alfie Caroll) all took their shots, but none succeeded as Victoriahasasecret consolidated a one-and-one-quarter length 2:01 win. Laval Titan was best of the rest in second, and Rose Run Unclebuck was close behind in third.
Victoriahasasecret has now won seven races on 51 attempts and earned $64,959 lifetime for owners and breeders Dean and Ashley Wilson of Kerwood. Britt Kennedy trains the five-year-old trotting mare by Holiday Road. The horse paid $21.20 to win as the second-longest shot on the board.
Kennedy attained her training first win of 2021 in that race. Donnie Rankin also accomplished that feat with Racebytheseaside in the sixth, as did Bruce Richardson in the ninth with Pollar Hall and Bruce Goit with Bet The Limit in the 10th.
The Raceway is set to return on Friday, Mar. 9 with 11 races starting at 6:30 p.m. EST.
