John Grozenski must be happy with an investment decision to purchase Welding Spark D a little over one month ago.
Welding Spark D has been brilliant for Grozenski and trainer Judy Roegner, and has won seven-straight races, including five for his present owner.
The latest victory was the $93,752 Michigan Pari-Mutuel for 4-year-old trotting horses and geldings at Sports Creek Raceway on Sunday October 16.
Welding Spark D and Eric Goodell left from post position five and found an early seat in fourth. Double Helix left hard from post position six, gained the early lead, and passed the quarter pole in :28.4.
Darryl Wright rolled Vee Bee Rovin to the front, and they passed the half-mile marker in :58.3. Goodell started to move Welding Spark D, on the outside, and stuck a head in front as the field moved past the three-quarter pole in 1:28.
Welding Spark D continued to dig in as they trotted down the stretch, closed in :30.3, and won in 1:58.3, over Double Helix (Mark Webster) and Vee Bee Rovin, respectively.
Welding Spark D has made 35 starts this year, has posted 17 wins, three seconds, and three thirds, and has won over $128,000 in that span.
The 4-year-old gelding is by P C Sparkplug and out of themare Sun Chips, and has a lifetime mark of 1:564, taken earlier this year at Hazel Park Raceway.
