In the second leg our anchor ran second, so it just didn't look our day, especially when we took four in the Gold division and still couldn't find the winner.
Ni Talar Bra Latin got us a dividend in the win bets at decent odds (4.54). We missed again in leg 5, but Olympic Kronos got us some win money back at (3.22).
We covered five in the last leg but there is no way I would have picked the $34 long shot.
And as for the Criterium de Vitesse Basse Normandy, well we picked the right trainer, just the wrong horse. So we made a slight loss in the win bets, and we are still waiting to buy that Lamboughini with a V75 win .
So on to this week.
V75-1 Bronze division 2100m: Okay, I know we have been blown away so many times when we pick an anchor early in the V75, but I honestly can't see BBS Sugarlight (1) beaten from this draw. Five wins in six starts this year, Sweden's in form trainer. Number one for mine. Selection 1
V75-2 Klass II 2640m: This one looks to be out of two except for the draws. Sauveur (9) has won four in a row, Melker (11) has won seven in nine. But. 9 and 11 are tough holes to draw. Still if we get through here we have some leeway. So let's go with these two. Selection 9 (11)
V75-3 Gold Division 1609m: Anchor time. This is gold division I know, but Digital Ink (9) is a rising star, and the rest of these are sitting on past glories - and I know there are some serious credientials in the CVs of Reve d'Amour and Kadett C.D. But this is Europe and the weight of age-group racing lies lightly here. So it is number 9 for mine. Selection 9
V75-4 Klass I 2100m: Remember My Name (7), Maranello (1)and Star Advisor Joli (6) look three best here in a tough class to select. Selection 7-1-6
V75-5 Enoch Karlssons Minne Elite mares 2100m: Canaka B.F (4) has three wins on the trot and looks the one to beat. But she has two worthy adveraries her in Drillbit As (2) and Mermaid As (3) who I think should be kept safe. One of these should be an alternate. It's up to you but I'm going for Drillbit (2) as my second pick. Selection 4 (2)
V75-6 Silver Division 1609m:entire Nato Dream (5) looked like he was going to be a real top youngster but as you will find out in Europe that means very little despite five wins as a 3YO. He hasn't won in a while but he won't get a better opportunity than here. Queasy (1), A Hannibal (4) and Mr Chicago (3) look the ones to beat. Selection 5-4-1-3
V75-7 Orebro International (Gr II UET) 3140m: On Track Piraten (12) is the class horse in this field, but this is the sort of distance he can be found out in. I am Mellby Viking (11)'s biggest fan, so he has to be included as does last year's winner New Line (14), despite a change of trainer. Also throw in former TravDerby winner Beau Mec (13) and runner up Porthos Amok (15). Selection 12-11-14-13-15
R5 Prix Jean Gauvreau 2175m: Sometimes there is a reason why a horse is a hot favourite Look no further, Vision Intense (13) is a genuine champion . Selection 13
R6 Criterium des 4 Ans 2850m: Criterium des 3 Ans winner Aladin d'Ejaceul (15) has emerged as a genuine star and should win if he isn't held up in traffic in such a big field. Selection 15
R8 Prix Albert Demarcq 2850m: There is no Vanika du Ruel, Village Mystic or Victoire here so Voltigeur de Myrt (9) looks the one to beat. Viking de Val (8) and Villeroi (6) should be kept safe in exotics. Selection 9
