Harness racing drivers and horses parlayed an unseasonably warm night with stiff southerly breezes into a speed fest Saturday evening at Colonial Downs where eight of the ten winners equaled or shattered previous life marks.
The fastest of the record setters was Jack Dailey's Misty Monday, who captured her second straight and 31st lifetime victory in 1:51 1/5, more than two seconds faster than her prior best of 1:53 3/5.
In the next race, Hero's Cavalcade finished a fifth of a second slower than Misty Monday, in 1:51 2/5, but beat his prior best by a fifth of a second. The 11-year-old, who made his 266th start, got to the finish line faster than any of his other 42 triumphs.
Other career highs were established by Hambone Snooky (1:56.0),Winters Call Girl (1:57 2/5), St Lads Survivor (1:53 4/5), Gabby's Love (1:52 4/5) and Cotton Blossom (1:56.0), while Cindy Race equaled her prior best of 1:52 4/5 in the finale.
