Warrawee Needy ($4.80) tied the all age world record as the fastest Standardbred ever in harness racing Saturday at the Meadowlands, scoring a 1:46.4 victory in winning his $50,000 elimination division for the William H. Haughton Memorial Free-For-All Pace.

The four-year-old stallion by E Dee's Cam from the Apaches Fame mare, Great Memories, posted his sixth victory of the year for trainer Carl Jamieson and was driven by Carl's son Jody.

The 6th race first division of the Haughton saw entrymates Hugadragon (Dave Miller) and Foiled Again (Yannick Gingras) both leave from their respective posts 5 and 9 to try and take command of the front end. Surprisingly Foiled Again and Gingras did not take the two-hole spot behind Hugadragon as they passed the opening quarter in :26 and Foiled Again went right to the lead.

Golden Receiver and driver Tim Tetrick then came first-over and they shot to the lead. But the fractions were super fast as they hit the half mile marker in :52.3. A Rocknroll Dance (Ron Pierce) then moved first-over and that gave Warrawee Needy perfect live cover second-over.

Past the three-quarters in 1:20.2, Warrawee Needy began to collar Golden Receiver as they started down the stretch but Golden Receiver dug in and found a little extra but not enough as Jamieson urged Warrawee Needy home to win by one and one-quarter lengths. Golden Receiver was second with Foiled Again third. Also making it to the Haughton Final next week is Razzle Dazzle (John Campbell) fourth and Hugadragon was fifth.

Warrawee Needy is now tied with Holborn Hanover and Somebeachsomewhere as the fastest harness horses of all time at 1:46.4.

"I was just looking for a trip," said Jody Jamieson. "He has shown week in week out that he races best from off the helmet he can be vicious. He has been used to following that helmet for about five weeks and tonight he proved how great he is. And how about Golden Receiver tonight? I thought I passed him two or three times and he kept coming back."

Warrawee Needy is owned by Dr. Michael Wilson, Thomas Kyron, Floyd Marshall and Carl Jamieson of Ontario, Canada and was bred by Warrawee Farm of Ontario.
