Top-flight action occurred this past weekend with victories by Timoko, Nahar and Napoleon Bar in high-level graded action. Replays of these exciting events are with the photos

Other interesting action also took place over the past few days.

On June 14, Santo Mollo scored with Sir Robert, a four year-old son of Adrian Chip, in the Prix d’Hermonville at Enghien, a European event for three year-old males. Purse was €55,000 in the 2875 meter contest, timed in 1.16.7kr. Chart follows

Same day at Kuovola open mares contested the Jouni Kaikko Memorial for a purse of €21,000. 11 starters traveled 2100 meters autostart. The Quite Easy mare Venice was victorious with USA’s  Beatgoeson Hanover third, she driven by Bjorn Goop for US-based trainer Nifty Norman. Chart follows.

On June 15 at Rambouillet trotting on the turf was featured. The €32,000 Prix de L-Echo Republicain attracted 18 entrants and Jean-Etienne Dubois scored with his Very Well Jet, a son of Love You from Encombevineuse by Workaholic, she a 1992 foal and dam of 15 foals including Kinder Jet (US$631,659 by Full Account), Quaro (US$721,720 by Kiwi), Avila (US$650,389 by Ready Cash), Rivoli Jet (US$149,467 by Goetmals Wood), Ulzhane (US$115,712 by Offshore Dream) and Very Well Jet. Quite a production record!

Also on June 15 Ringostarr Treb won the Pris Presidente Della Republica at Triese Italy. Roberto Vecchione teamed the four year-old son of Classic Photo to his 11th career victory in 1.17.5kr over 2060 meters on the half-mile track. Purse was €45,100. Sunday at Hamburg Germany the €30,000 Hamburg Cup went to emerging Banks with trainer Michael Larsen.

He covered the 1680 meter autostart distance in a sharp track record 1.09.9kr, also a German record, as he scored by over five lengths.

The gelded five year-old son of Abano As-Brisana-Diamond Way now has 11 wins in 14 career starts, the other three outings being second place finishes. His career earnings are €70,860. Canadian bred I Won’t Dance was second for trainer/driver Joakim Lovgren with Aida Boko third for Robin Bakker. Chart is shown below.

Heinz Wewering piloted his trainee Abano Boy in this event but was off the board.

Second dam of the winner is Image of Beauty, a daughter of Balanced Image and US$246,687 winner of the Canadian Breeders Championship and 16 victories in 31 starts. She’s also dam of Italian Derby winner Avril, a winner of US$500,771, and a full-sister to Dr. Robert Johns, winner of €288,016 and victorious in Ontario Sires Gold Final at age two.

On June 16 action returned to France at Vichy and Agen le Passage. The Prix de Cognat-Lyonne for €35,000 over 2850 meters distance handicap drew 17 starters. Tamaya de Bohet scored at almost 10/1 odds in this one, the day’s Quinte+ race of the day. Timed in 1.15.8kr the daughter of Lets Go Along defeated a host of longshots such that there were no exact order winning tickets on the top five finishers.

The same day at Agen le Passage Norton Jet scored in the €30,000 Prix Faustin Semeillon over 2625 meters in 1.15.8kr. The son of Crown’s Invitation won for the first time in France and for the 10th time in his career, now for earnings of 149,636 for trainer/driver Matthieu Varin, who on post-race interview stated that his Italian import has shown recent improvement.
