Solid trotting took place during the weekend at various venues starting with Cagnes-sur-mer where on Saturday a series of 2925 meter events took place, following similar contests over the mile distance two weeks ago. The longer distance created interesting strategic and pace judgments by the drivers.

The Prix Ville de Nice (2925 meters, purse 75,000 euro) saw Quentin Rose (9g Carpe Diem-Gigi Rose) prevail easily for Rik Dupuydt in 1.14.1kr for his 22nd win in 98 starts. Rambo Jet (8g Goetmals Wood-Elite d’Atout) finished second for Joseph Verbeeck with third to Quickly Paris (9m And Arifant-Belle Colline).

The Prix Promenade des Angalis (2925 meters, purse 32,000 euro) resulted in a comfortable score for Klondike BB (7m Dream Vacation-Super Sleek) with Christophe Martens up. The son of US bred Dream Vacation scored in 1.16kr over Sire de la Creuse and driver J-F- Senet with German invader Let’s Go On third for trainer/driver  Conrad Lugauer.

The Prix de la Lanterne (2925 meters, 32,000 euro purse for females) was taken by Sinesga (7f Jam Pridem-Ines Charmante) with Loic Lerenade driving. They scored in a driving finish over Ludwine (8f Daguet Rapide-Zoom Image-Balanced Image) and Romain Derieux in 1.18.1kr. This race reflected strategic moves by several contestants. Favored Ludwine trailed the field in a slow rated pace before circling quickly for the lead a half-mile out and then battling the determined winner to the line in fast finishing fractions.

The Prix de Cimeix (2925 meters, purse 34,000 euro) went to Ubrine (5f Podosis-Ebrine) for Joseph Verbeeck in 1.15.8kr. The winner is owned and trained by Yannick Briand.

At Graignes, the featured Prix Maitres Laitier (2700 meters, 25,000 euro purse) went to Always Perfect (3f Prodigious-Oh Butterfly) with Julien Dubois teaming. At Le Mont Saint Michel on Sunday the Dubois clan scored twice more. Jean-Etienne Dubois drove his owned/trainer Ascot Drive (3g Phlegyas-North Lane) to victory in the Prix Federation Reg. Course for a 20,000 euro purse over 2600 meters. The winner was clocked in 1.17.8kr to defeat Argos with Thomas Levesque aboard.

In the Prix Maurice Jan (24,000 euro purse, 3250 meters) Julien Dubois won with Very Pleasant (4m Goetmals Wood-Feraire d’Occagnes) in 1.20.3kr. The winner is owned by Ecurie Victoria Dreams and trained by Phillipe Moulin.

At Kincsem Park on Saturday, the featured Istvan Szent DIJ for a purse of 2 million HUf went to Orlando Bloom (5m Zador-Donna Summer) for trainer/driver Imre Fazekas. Owned by Pimri Bt. the winner earned the trophy for his best placing in the two heat event over three year-old Radium Boy. Orlando Bloom took the first heat in 1.16.7kr over 2020 meters (including his 60 meter handicap) defeating another three-year old Racing Athlete. Radium Boy (1960 meters), by Wall Street Banker, made a disqualifying miscue in this heat but he recovered to win the second heat in 1.18.8kr over Palko (2000 meters) and Masterpiece (2020 meters), by Tony Oaks, with Orlando Bloom fifth. The secondary feature, the Diamond River DIJ (1900 meters, 500,000 HUf purse) for open aged trotters, went to Slovakia invader Vic Attack (10g Hans Boshoeve-Iris Attack) in 1.15.2kr. The Alfred Hossman owned campaigner defeated Pina Starlight and Leonidas OZ.
