In anticipation for former NBA referee Tim Donaghy's July sentencing for taking cash payoffs from gamblers and betting on games he officiated, Outsider Radio examines the under-reported pervasive compulsive gambling problems among professional athletes and officials.

To add first-hand perspective, compulsive gambling counselor Arnie Wexler joins the show for a 60-minute discussion about his personal battle with gambling, professional sports leagues’ history of ignoring the issue and his relationship with Tim Donaghy.

Wexler speaks to David Stern’s desire to speak with his client, shares the story of how the NBA approached him to address its early bout with compulsive gamblers and describes the backdrop for the disease and how its treated by the federal government.

Lakers Library’s Ed Ziti leads the discussion along with host Brandon Rosage in light of Ziti’s coverage and community discussion at his website.
