OK…things did not go as planned for our 2014 debut with the picks. Only had one $4.40 winner in six races. So now we are starting off 2014 at minus -$7.60. Weather could be a big factor so make sure to take that into account before wagering.

This weekend we have six races spanning the East  with two at Yonkers, two at Pompano Park and one each at the Meadowlands and Woodbine. Good luck!

$34,000 Preferred Pace Woodbine

2nd race Saturday – Last week after getting some great live cover, Apprentice Hanover rocketed to the winner’s circle for his fourth straight start. Has a good inside post to make it five in-a-row as favorite.

$33,000 Open Handicap Pace Yonkers

6th race Saturday – Very competitive field could see nearly anyone in the field winning. I am going with Bettor’s Edge who is coming off a very strong 1:49.1 win at the Meadowlands. Should be able to handle return to half mile racing for the Burke Stable.

$30,000 B1/A2/A1 Handicap Pace Meadowlands

6th race Saturday  - With three straight wins I feel that Road Untraveled will be able to handle decent hike in class.  Most of the field is also moving up and this one has been very game grinding it out to the front and not stopping.

$18,200 Late Closer Pace Final Pompano

6th race Saturday – Final for $10,000 claimers could be a good one. Just Fred is the favorite and rightly having won a preliminary leg, getting claimed and last week finishing third in the Open 2. Gets Georgie Nap in the sulky who is still seeking his first win since coming back to Pompano.

$10,000 Open Handicap Pace Pompano Park

7th race Saturday – With Prairie Jaguar not in the race the next best thing is Northern Companion. Gusty closer can grind it out with the best. He was very good last week in closing well to be second.

$24,000 Preferred Handicap Pace Yonkers

8th race Saturday – Forgetting last week’s start at the Meadowlands, Fat Mans Alley looms as the big favorite in his return to Yonker’s half mile oval. Is a strong closer and will only need to get some live cover to win in here.
