Ok harness racing fans, after six weeks I have picked horses in 34 race with only 14 winners, not too good. I had only four winners in 12 races last week. We are in the minus earning column for the first time at negative (-$7.30) going into this weekend.

We have four major stakes events at Pocono Downs Saturday night plus the Ben Franklin consolation race which is also a great matchup. The $2 million in purses will have these drivers and horses going at 110% to grab the winner's share of the purse!

$500,000 Ben Franklin Open Pace Final

With $500,000 purse on the line, this will be a no-holds barred slugfest with some of the best pacers in North America. Foiled Again may be the "old man" of the field at age 9 but with Yannick Gingras in the sulky they found a way to win their elim last week and do it in a world record 1:48 clocking. I can see them working their perfect-trip magic once again and Foiled Again surpassing the $5 million mark in career earnings.

$500,000 Max Hempt Colt Pace Final

The"Captain" did it again last week and has had some real nail-biting finishes as of late but he has true grit and knows how to dig in and get the job done. Cool Hands Tim Tetrick showed last week this great colt can win from both on and off the pace so it is just a question of how they will get the job done in here. It will not be easy starting from the far outside in post nine but class should show through somehow so I look for the "Captain" to come through again.

$500,000 Earl Beal Colt Trot Final

After winning last week from post eight, I am and was impressed enough to pick unbeaten Smilin Eli no matter what post position he will start from. That said he drew the outside post nine. Someone will get a perfect two-hole trip behind this great colt but as in last week's effort, it did not make a difference. The only way Smilin Eli could be beaten is by himself and only if he runs out of steam. I still think he is so green he does not know there is a finish line in a race.

$300,000 James Lynch Filly Pace Final

With such a big effort last week against arch rival Somwherovrarainbow, I have to stay with I Luv The Nitelife for the third straight week even with her drawing poorly and starting from post eight. May not pay much as favorite again but I gotta pick winners and that is what this filly is. Will work out another trip and come on late to score again.

$50,000 Ben Franklin Consolation Pace

It may only be a "so-called" consolation race, and it might only have five horses in it, but when those five horses are none other than Sweet Lou, Rockincam, Bolt The Duer, Heston Blue Clip and Fred And Ginger, it is a classic horse race. Everyone will be in the hunt for this event so driving tactics, speed and positioning will mean everything. I think that last week Heston Blue Chip and driver Tim Tetrick drove into a bad situation and were blocked down the lane. That was only his second start back so I look for them to be the mild surprise winner in a really well-matched field.
