ELORA, ON – Dashpig won't share the racetrack with any racehorses on Friday night at Grand River Raceway, but he will share the spotlight. The 2018 champion of last year's Ren's Pets Wiener Dog Races will defend his title against 17 Dachshunds during the fifth edition of the fan-favourite event on July 5.
In all, the night offers 10 horse races and four wiener dog races. Post time for the first horse race is 6:30 p.m.
Dashpig will start from post three in the third and final heat to be contested after horse race #5 (approximately 8:00 p.m.). Mustard, the 2017 champion, will start alongside Dashpig in the same heat from post two.
The top three finishers from each 6-dog dash will advance to the championship after horse race #7 (approximately 8:45 p.m.) All races are 20 meters in length.
The event is supported by title sponsor Ren's Pets and Elements Casino Grand River. Prizes for the top dogs total more than $500.
