Summerside, PE – Woggy Rocks, under the command of harness racing driver Adam Merner, put away Painted Desert in deep stretch to win the Wednesday night top class at Red Shores Summerside. The newcomer stopped the timer in 1:56.4. Neal Moase trains the six-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover for owner Mikeala Wheaton, Cornwall, PE. Painted Desert (Corey MacPherson) held on for second with Allstar Seelster (Norris Rogers) third. The 5-2-7 combination returned $197.80. It was Merner's second winner of the night after clicking with J RS Hurricane earlier on the card.
In other action, Rojans White Jet captured the Ivan & Isabelle Cameron memorial for driver Marc Campbell and owner-trainer Ralph Sweet, O'Leary, PE. The mare notched her second win in a row and fifth win of the 2017 campaign.
Drivers Dale Spence and Norris Rogers also recorded driving doubles on the program. Spence scored with Dancers Pass for trainer Blaine McKenna and Jays Little Spark for conditioner Gregory MacInnis. Rogers rallied with Instant Shadow for trainer Sifroi Melanson and Darth Bader for owner Edward Harvey, Tyne Valley, PE.
