YONKERS, NY, Thursday, May 24, 2018–Yonkers Raceway's Thursday night (May 24th) saw the highest local exacta of the season.
When 22-1 Ransom Demand (Mark MacDonald, $47.80) edged past cone-skimming 62-1 Ziggy Sky (catch-driver Jim Marohn Jr.) late in the $9,000, fourth-race pace, the 4-7 gimmick returned $1,899 for a two-buck wager. The first two finishers had been boardless in eight and four '18 starts, respectively.
With 3-10 favorite Soho Jackman A (Jordan Stratton) faltering in the final strides and settling for a blanket-finish third, the 4-7-1 triple paid $5,047 for a $2 wager.
Beast Mode (Brian Sears) was fourth, thus the 4-7-1-5 superfecta returned $27,106 (base $2 payout, 10-cent ticket $1,355.30).
Yonkers' previous high 2018 exacta this season was $1,411, occurring late last month.
