WILKES-BARRE PA – You Got Trumped got a first-over journey into a slow pace to overcome, but he proved to have the necessary late sprint to win the $13,000 featured pace on Monday at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono in 1:55.3.
Racing over a track that was downgraded to "good +1" early in the card, You Got Trumped got away fourth for driver Matt Kakaley as favored Record Machine marched right to the front, with Bag Pipe Major right behind the leader as Record Machine went 28.2 to the quarter and a creaking 59.2 to the half.
It was obvious at that point that the race would be a quickstep home, and the victorious Bettorthancheddar gelding had the fastest high gear in him, coming his own final half in 55.3 despite taking the air to post a ¾ length decision over Bag Pipe Major, who in turn photoed out Record Machine for the deuce. Andrew Harris trains the winner for Louis and Thomas Frascella and A Harris Racing LLC.
The Napolitano brothers continued to have the hot hands at Pocono this racing week – George had five victories on the card and Anthony three, giving them 13 and 11 wins respectively over a trio of cards and thus combined 24 of the 39 visits to Victory Lane in the last three days, a 62% ratio.
