WASHINGTON, PA, July 28, 2014 -- Do Me Honor settled into the pocket, then blew by the leader in the lane to capture Monday's $24,800 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Do Me Honor got away first but yielded to Novascotia Hanover, who was hard-used from post 9 to make the front. When the field turned for home, Do Me Honor responded to Aaron Merriman's urging and brushed clear to score in 1:52.1. Tremor Hanover raced well from post 10 to be second, 1-3/4 lengths back, while Nice Party shot the Lightning Lane for show.

Bill Bercury owns and trains Do Me Honor, a 6-year-old daughter of Cheyenne Rei-Do Me Right who was won 18 races over the past two seasons and $476,608 in her career.

Dave Palone drove four winners on the 15-race card.

For Tuesday, July 29, The Meadows Racetrack & Casino has increased to $12,500 the pool guarantee for its Pick 4, in association with the United States Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Initiative.

Although a $5,000 Pick 4 pool guarantee is a regular feature of Monday and Tuesday cards, The Meadows sweetened the guarantee when Monday’s Pick 4 was uncovered, resulting in a $3,298.27 carryover.

Minimum wager for the Pick 4 (Races 4-7) is 50 cents. Since Pennsylvania law requires a minimum per-race wager of $2, a player wagering at the 50-cent level must bet at least four tickets.
