Hanover Raceway kicked off its Survivor contest Saturday night, and Brad Forward continued His dominance among his fellow drivers.
Forward won 3 of the 10 races on the night giving him 13 wins on the 5 week old season, 7 more than his closest competitor Clarke Stacey.
The 45 year old Newfoundland native started off his hattrick in Race 3 with Docs Baby in 2:03.3. The 3 year old filly trotter is owned by Dr. John Mckinley of Oldcastle Ontario.
Forward also won Race 7 with Buttercup Baby in 1:59.1 for owner ICR Racing of Pepperlaw, and completed the hattrick in Race 8 with Son of a Eagle in 1:59.1 for owner and trainer David Burgess of Cambridge.
106 people took part in leg 1 of the Survivor contest. Fans had to pick a horse in 4 different races and if all 4 of their horses finished in the money, they get a ballot to compete in the Survivor finale on August 6th. Country 93 and HDTV in Walkerton and Hanover are sponsoring the contest with the top prize being a 50 inch High Def TV.
40 of the 106 contestants were perfect on their selections, however, everyone including those who qualified can compete again next week in leg 2 for another ballot in the finale.
Next Saturday is also Ladies Night at the Races. Hanover Raceway has partnered with The Flower Shoppe and Greenhouses, My Scissors and I and Molson to provide some great prizes for Ladies in attendance.
Post time Saturday July 9th is 7:15pm.
