Ocean City, MD – The second round of Maryland Sire Stakes preliminaries concluded on Monday night Aug. 20 at Ocean Downs setting the stage for the $67,000 Finals on Aug. 26th and 27th.
Starting from post 7, driver John Wagner guided Pat's A Keeper (Lockkeeper) out of the gate, taking air to the 3/8 mile, before taking the lead and opening up 6 lengths on the field, tying the stakes record of 2:02 for two year old trotting fillies. Sleek N Majestic (Charlie De Vie) was up for place. Pat's A Keeper is owned and bred by Pam Wagner and trained by Arlene Cameron.
The second split for two year old trotting fillies went to post as race three. Reinsman Russell Foster gave Gittin All Sexy (Googoo Gaagaa) the perfect pocket trip catching the leader Bossy Hilly (Great George Two) in mid-stretch to stop the clock in 2:04. Richard Hans owns, bred and trains Getting All Sexy.
Two divisions for two year old pacing colts and geldings were up next starting with a non wagering event between after race three. Owner Pam Wagner and trainer Arlene Cameron picked up their second win of the night when Dennis The Menace (Rusty's All In) went wire to wire in the 1:59.4 mile.
Jared Moyer was in the bike. Pam Wagner is also the breeder. Rockin The Shades was second.
The pacing colts came back in race five for the last stake of the evening. Jared Moyer picked up his second stakes win for the night behind Sonny's Blessing (Rusty's All In) in another gate to wire victory 2 ¾ lengths ahead of Where's Barry (Rusty's For Real). This win gave trainer Arlene Cameron and owner Pam Wagner their third stakes win for the night. Linda Condon and Kevin Freeman are also co-owners of Sonny's Blessing and Linda Condon is the breeder.
On Wednesday Aug. 22 Ocean Downs will be hosting the Back To The Track night with pony rides, face painting, carriage rides, photo booth, an appearance by mascot Lucky U, a T-shirt toss, hat give away and more.
