On an extremely warm Thursday night (July 14) at Ocean Downs, the three year old Maryland Sire Stakes opened the night with four non-wagering events.

Once again a Richard Hans owned, bred and trained Cam's Rocket trotter left the field in his dust in the colt/gelding trot. Speed It lived up to his name, setting the stakes record of 2:00.1 for reinsman Jim Morand. Righteous Renegade was second.

The filly trotters were up next and Rock The Game (Cam's Rocket) with driver Frank Milby in the bike was able to maintain the almost 2 length lead over Star Rose at the finish in 2:01.2 for owners Breakaway Racing and breeder Nick Callahan.

Fastestgirlaround (Dontloseyourdayjob) gave driver Frank Milby his second stakes win for the night, taking the filly pace over Mo Power. Brian Callahan trains and co-owns the filly with Gloria Kinnamon. Time for the mile was 1:59.

The final stake of the night was for colt and gelding pacers. Driver/trainer Jeff Fout guided Steal N Go (Bonnie And Clyde) to the front and held that lead to the wire in 2:01.1 for owner and breeder Winbak Farm. Toms Tae Kwon Do was up for place.

The second prelims for 2 year olds will be Sunday July 17 with 3 non-wagering races and 3 on the race card. Ocean Downs will also be hosting a field of 8 in the Racing Under Saddle event after race 6 and Starting Gaits and the great Golden Receiver will be showcasing the breed with Golden Receiver leading the post parade for the RUS event.
