The two-year-olds were in the spotlight at Ocean Downs Sunday in the Maryland Sire Stakes.

Renegade Starlet (CR Renegade) made sure the filly trot was exciting right to the wire. Driver Jeff Fout was content to follow last week's preliminary winner Betcha Ur My Baby (You Betcha)until the head of the stretch, when he pulled on the leader, catching her at the wire in 2:06.2. Tui Stone trains the filly for Serendipity Stables.

In the filly pace, Helaines's Firebird (Allie's Western) has proved to be the dominant one so far taking both the prelim and final off the front end. George Dennis piloted the filly to a new mark of 2:02 for owner Frank Chick and trainer Kevin Lare. The Winbak Farm owned Jodi's Sweety was second.

The trotting colts showed that minding your manners is the best way to win a race. Doggone Slots (Doggone Yankee) and Jay Boy (Tsunami) both did just that and had the fans cheering them on down the stretch with Doggone Slots getting his first lifetime win in 2:05.1. Trainer Tom Morris co-owns the homebred colt along with Gregg Morris

As usual the Cam's Rocket pacing colts put on a good show with Toms Typhoon setting a new MSS 2 YO pacing colt record of 1:56 at the Casino at Ocean Downs. His stable mate Toms Tornado was second. Reinsman Jim Morand drove the winner for owner Thomas Cooke and trainer Roger Hans.
