WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 18, 2017 — Tamarind zipped to the front from post 7 and never had an anxious moment as he rolled to a harness racing victory in Wednesday's $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Tamarind need to trot a swift 27.4 to reach the early lead, but when Aaron Merriman gave him a 29.4 second-quarter breather, he was home free, prevailing in 1:55.1. Maximum Credit shot the Lightning Lane for second, 1-3/4 lengths back, while the first-over Monte Cristo Spur finished third.
Bill Bercury trains and owns Tamarind, a 9-year-old son of Angus Hall-Spicegirl Kosmos who won for the 61st time in his career and extended his lifetime bankroll to $926,884.
Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 12-race card, including three for trainer Ron Burke.
