Delray Beach, FL – There were seven qualifying races held over the one mile oval at Sunshine Meadows Equestrian Center on Friday before a strong crowd of horsemen and women and some racing fans. It was a sunny day with a strong breeze and temperatures in the low 70's with a one second allowance.
The races were announced by Sunshine Meadows General Manager Brandon Mills with some assistance from trainer Tony Alagna.
The fastest mile of the late morning program went to Shamma Lamma, a three-year-old colt pacer by McArdle from the Western Ideal mare Shabalabadingdong. Trained by Melanie Wrenn and driven by husband Peter, Shamma Lamma led from start to finish, blowing away from the field after the half mile and going on to win by 45 lengths in 1:55.2.
The fastest trotting mile saw Say You Do, a four-year-old gelded son of Kadabra from the Balanced Image mare Sno Doubt About It, lead from start to finish by one length in 2:01.1 for trainer/driver Steve Oldford.
Peter Wrenn won two of first three races on the program to lead all drivers with a double.
