YONKERS, NY, Monday, April 20, 2015 – It's never simple being Yonkers Raceway harness racing track announcer John Hernan, and even less so Monday night.
Hernan plied his craft through a dense fog, which made the setting more suited for ghosts and spirits than pacers and trotters.
Track photographer Mike Lizzi captured the start of the evening's first race, which was eventually won by Disarrei (Mark MacDonald, $8.40) in a life-best 1:54.3.
The Raceway's live schedule continues with a French-centric Tuesday (1 PM, third round of YR/SOA of NY Bonus Trotting Series), then Thursday through Saturday (all at 7:10 PM). Saturday features the two richest North American harness races of the season to date, the $529,000 final of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series and $261,000 final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker. Evening simulcasting available around all nighttime programs, with afternoon simulcasting daily.
