Atta Boy Dan and harness racing driver Mike Wilder used a first over trip and edged Night Pro (Peter Wrenn) by three quarters of a length to win the $35,000 Gene Riegle Memorial at the Darke County Fair in Greenville, Ohio.
Defending champion Mykindachip (Dan Noble) overcame post #8 and took control of the field of seven in the opening quarter of :27 2/5. Wilder sent the eventual winner off the rail and pressured Mykindachip past the half in :55 4/5 and the three-quarters in 1:24. Atta Boy Dan took the lead in the stretch and held off a closing Night Pro in 1:52 to establish a new track and stakes record. Pacesetting Mykindachip faded to third.
