WILKES-BARRE PA – The Bettors Delight mare Divas Image came into The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono from Yonkers and promptly regained her winning ways, taking the $17,000 distaff pacing feature Tuesday in 1:51.2, a new mark, on the penultimate harness racing card of the 2017 season at the mountain oval.
George Napolitano Jr. received the sulky assignment from trainer Jennifer Bongiorno and promptly made every pole a winning one with Divas Image, drawing off to win by 3½ lengths. Our Horse Cents Stables, Stable 45, and J&T Silva Stables LLC saw their four-year-old raise his lifetime earnings to $275,482.
Napolitano Jr., the perennial leader driver at The Downs, will be honored for another banner season in trackside ceremonies during the final card of the local season on Saturday. So will Maxdaddy Blue Chip, voted the local Pacer of the Year, although he has drawn a difficult assignment on Saturday – having to overcome the outside post eight in a $25,000 handicap pace.
