Westfield, IN- The Hollies sang "The road is long, with many a winding turn, that leads us to who knows where, who knows when." For the Harness Horse Youth Foundation Trottingbreds and staff, the road this summer will indeed be long, but the harness racing organization knows exactly where it leads.
The summer programs schedule starts at Hoosier Park on June 12 with more than 300 girl scouts and their families, then heads to Nappanee, Indiana before the entourage heads east to Harrington Raceway. It doesn't end until mid-August, after visiting six more states and nearly a dozen venues.
Executive Director Ellen Taylor is looking forward to the summer tour. ""We have lots to be excited about for summer 2015 programs. New crew, new member added to our stable, and best response ever to our ever-growing schedule, plus our exceptional all-important sponsor support!"
As Taylor mentions, the extensive HHYF travel schedule would not be possible without the support of the organization's summer program sponsors. Among the organizations and racetracks supporting the Foundation this summer are the United States Trotting Association, Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen's Association, Agriculture & New York State Development Fund, Indiana Standardbred Association, Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, American Racing – Vernon Downs, Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association, Standardbred Owners and Breeders of New Jersey (in memory of Ed Razzetti) and the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association.
Businesses and individuals who support HHYF's important mission include Doug Ackerman Stable, the Antonacci Family Foundation, Brittany Farms, Fair Island Farm, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, Preferred Equine Marketing, Val D'or Farm, White Birch Farm, Diamond Creek Farm, Fair Winds Farm, Ed Gold, Bob and Lynda Stewart, Southern Oaks Training Center, Bluegrass Staking Service, Bluestone Farms, Brook Ledge Transportation, Buckeye Nutrition, Cameo Hills Farm, Concord Stud Farm, Converseon, Dr. John Cummins, M & J Insurance, Walnut Hall Stock Farm, WJ Donovan Racing Stable, Woodland Run Vet Facility, Deo Volente Farm, Dunroven Stud, Horseman Publishing Company, Walnut Hall Limited, Vieux Carre Farms, Hunterton Farm, Birnam Wood Farms, Barbara Bongiorno, Jean Brown, Cunningham Livestock, Dumain Haven Farm, Mark Ford Stable, Greg Schuler Interactive, Two Gaits Farm, Walnridge Farm of Pennsylvania, Winbak Farm, Marsha Cohen and Martha Frank Stables.
