Nichols, N.Y. — The Tioga Downs race office announces additional divisions of the Summer Claiming Series to take place in July, one for trotters and one for pacing mares.
Horses can be claimed from both preliminaries and the final of each series, with claiming prices for trotters increasing from $6,500 to $8,000 over the three races and tags for distaff pacers building from $8,000 to $9,500. A horse's entry into the first leg constitutes nomination for the entire series, and a $25 declaration fee is due on the day of the first preliminary.
Both series will begin with preliminary legs on July 16 and July 23 (both Saturdays), with finals on Saturday, July 30. Horses must race in both preliminary events to maintain eligibility for the final (limited to the top nine money earners from the preliminaries to enter), and fifteen entrants are required for a given series to take place.
