HARRINGTON, Del. – James Moore III's Royal Becca J ($4.40, Jack Parker Jr.) was a 1:56 winner in the $16,000 Open Trot Wednesday at Harrington Raceway.
Trained by Carol Jamieson-Parker, the 6-year-old RC Royalty gelding set most of the fractions before a fine duel ensued for the final quarter between he and pocket-sitting I Like My Boss. Royal Becca J maintained a slim lead at the wire for the win. Blownoutofthewater was third.
It was the third win of the season for Royal Becca J, and 19th in his career. His season has been overshadowed by stable mate NF Happenstance, who leads all trotters in North America this year with more than $140,000 earned seasonally.
The seventh race celebrated the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, who was enjoying their annual night at the races. Myclaimtovictory ($5, Ross Wolfenden) won the race and was the recipient of a black and pink cooler, recognizing DBCC's Night at The Races. The Delaware Breast Cancer coalition is a non-profit aiming to increase breast cancer awareness. To learn more, please visit www.debreast.org.
