WILKES-BARRE PA — Soboro Hanover moved to the lead after the initial quarter, then had an open-length lead most of the way to the wire in winning the harness racing $30,000 feature for Pennsylvania-sired three-year-old trotters Tuesday night at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono in 1:54.4.
Matt Kakaley was in the sulky for trainer Nifty Norman and the ownership triumvirate of Melvin Hartman, David McDuffee, and Murray Brown as Soboro Hanover, an altered son of Donato Hanover, scored by three lengths over Wouldn't Itbesweet, with Doc Simon's Dream taking third in a three-horse photo. Soboro was sent off as the 9-5 co-favorite with Setubal, who had early traffic woes and then made a break.
Pocono is now racing a basic three-night-a-week schedule, with the trotters and pacers under the lights on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings through the close of the meet on November 21.
