  • The Marsh Birds by Eva Sallis
This is a moving story of a young Muslim Iraqi boy who had to flee Iraq to look for a place of safety. When he was separated from his father, mother and sister he found himself at the mercy of others. In his desperation for a normal life he flees facing all the hardships that a refugee faces. He flees from his unpleasant stay in Australia and becomes a refugee for the second time. Eventually in New Zealand he once again gets a taste of living with a Kiwi family.
