East Rutherford, NJ - Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment has made a slight change to one of its Late Closer Series'. The Charles Singer Memorial series has been pushed back one week, since the Meadowlands will be closed for live racing due to the Super Bowl festivities from January 23rd until Thursday, February 6th. The series will now begin on Thursday February 13th (previously February 6th), with the second leg to be contested on Thursday February 20th and the Final to be raced on Saturday March 1st. Real Babe overcame post position 10 to win the $47,800 Charles Singer Memorial final for harness racing 4-year-old trotters on Saturday night (Feb. 23) at Meadowlands Racetrack. David Miller was in the bike for owners Emilio and Maria Rosati of Australia and trainer Mark Harder as the 4-year-old daughter of Donato Hanover-Housethatruthbuilt recorded her fourth win in six season's starts, lifting her 2013 bankroll to $46,800.

Not Afraid broke his maiden by open lengths in the $44,500 Charles Singer Memorial final on Friday night at the Meadowlands Racetrack. With harness racing driver Ron Pierce in tow, Not Afraid went straight to the top and drew off to an easy 6 1/4-length tally in 1:56.1.

Despite being a third generation harness racing horseman, James Atkinson was a heavy equipment operator up until 10 years ago when the lure of his roots became too hard to resist. The 57-year-old Jackson, NJ native now resides on a farm in Georgetown, DE and will send out Connie Lauxmont in Friday's $44,500 Charles Singer Memorial Final at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

A shoeing change and clean bill of health have been a winning combination for harness racing trotter Connie Lauxmont. The 3-year-old son of Conway Hall-Lady Law has won three races in a row as he heads into Thursday's (Feb. 16) opening round of the Charles Singer Memorial Series at Meadowlands Racetrack.
