The harness racing trotter Empire (3m Vasterbo Prestige-Gossip Gal-SJs Caviar) took this day’s Dansk Trav Kriterium at Copenhagen’s Charlottenlund racecourse. Ken Ecce teamed the 1.14.1kr timed winner for trainer Tomas Malmqvist and owner Panamera Racing. The race was contested over 2500 meters autostart for a purse of 680,000 krona with 340,000kr to the winner. The big chestnut colt now has six victories in 2019 and for his career with 651,860kr in life earnings. Emoji (3m Broad Bahn-Shelovesyoubutcher-Love You) was second for pilot Birger Jorgensen and Extreme (3m Chocolatier-Swiss Watch-From Above) took third money with Jeppe Juel at the lines. Tomorrow at Charlottenlund there are ten starters in the 2019 Copenhagen Cup where perhaps an Elitloppet invitation will result. Cyber Lane, Makethemark and Handsome Brad are the likely headliners in this event. Already invited to the Elite Race are Bahia Quesnot, Makethemark, Heavy Sound, Looking Superb, Propulsion, Readly Express, Aubrion du Gers, Uza Josselyn, Double Exposure, and Dijon. Bahia Quesnot won the V75 Gold today at Aby for trainer/driver Junior Guelpa and Looking Superb won a Gr. III test at Vincennes in impressive fashion with J-M Bazire the trainer/driver. At Caen on May 15 is the Gr. II Prix des Ducs de Normandie where Aubrion du Gers and Bold Eagle are in the lineup along with the fine mare Billie de Montfort. Bold Eagle has been in a recent slump with one victory in his last six appearances.        

May 14, 2017 - Cruzado Dela Noche (5m Muscle Massive-Alidada-Credit Winner) rallied from between harness racing rivals to win today’s Gr. I International UET Series Broline Copenhagen Cup 2017 (375,000DKK to the winner, 2011 meters autostart) at Charlottenlund racecourse. Race time was 1.11.1kr at driver Per Linderoth prevailed with the Stefan Melander trainee owned by Stall Courant AB. In Vain Sund was alongside the winner on the line, as shown below, but was off-stride and this disqualified. Nadal Broline (7g Yankee Glide-Aimee’s Promise-American Winner) held on after being the pacesetter and was placed second , with Ulf Ohlsson up for trainer Reijo Liljendahl. Third placed was Buzz Mearas (6g Dream Vacation-Dance of Joy-Malabar Man) with Gabriel Gelormini up for trainer Vincent Lacroix and owner Pierre Pilarski, the Bold Eagle owner. The winning Cruzado Dela Noche now has 12 wins in 40 career starts for 4,783,580DKK earned. The undercard was a dandy too. The V75 Silver (100,000DKK first money, 2000 meters autostart) went to Re Doc (7g Love You-Glenga AL-Bon Vivant) for Christoffer Eriksson, trainer Robert Bergh and Stall Robero KB. Just missing and a good second was Germany’s Cash Hanover (5m Love You-Impasse-Enjoy Lavec) with Michael Nimcyk. Third home in the 1.12kr timed event was Photo Lavec (5m SJ’s Photo-Joyful Lavec-Enjoy Lavec) for Bjorn Goop, the catch-driver.  The four year-old Fyrodringslopp (150,000DKK first money, 2000 meters autostart) went to 1.12.9kr timed Shotproof (4m Yankee Glide-Chorine Hanover-Malabar Man) with trainer Flemming Jensen driving. Axel (4g Love You-Hioubov Lykke-Buckfinder) impressively secured Saturday’s Danish Trotting Derby over 3000 meters autostart, timed in 1.15.5kr, at Charlottenlund, at 1.7/1. The winner took home 560,000DKK with the victory for elated driver Rene Kjaer (“Mr. Green”) and trainer Karsten Holm. Franck and Preben Sorensen own the winner, now undefeated in six 2016 appearances and with a career slate of 9-1-0 in ten starts. 2/1 odds Your Highness (7f Chocolatier-LaBelle Lady-Conway Hall)  rallied from the back to sweep past for a half-length victory in the Gr. I UET Masters Series 2016 Broline Copenhagen Cup at Charlottenlund, the 2011 meter autostart contest was timed in 1,11,5kr by the Bjorn Goop reined, Fabrice Souloy trained winner. This special V75 day harness racing feature rewarded the winner with 375,000DKK. Total purse in euros was €100,500. 12/1 Spring Erom (11m Gentle Star-Springflickan-Prince Mystic) raced gallantly on the front for Erik Adielsson and trainer Dan Widegren and was second ahead of Spains 8/1 Trebol (9m Hot Blues-Sally Can Wait-Prince Mystic), reined by Gabriel-Angel Pou Pou, that raced on the outer throughout, first without cover and later covered by El Mago Pellini that gained the death seat and held for fifth. Gigant Slugger was fourth after a ground saving journey on the pegs from post one. US import Solvato finished tenth. August 30, 2015 - The featured Dansk Trotting Derby 2015 (525,000DKK, US$79,267, to winner, 3000 meters autostart) went to the 1.12.8kr clocked winner Winston Sisa (4m ENS Snapshot-Keenness Sisa) driven by harness racing trainer Jan Dahlgaard. Wizard Simoni (4m Juliano Star-Kom Sa Simoni-Earthquake) was second driven  by Peter Untersteiner ahead of United KK (4m Carmondy Lobell-Erycina-Speed Merchant) driven by Gordon Dahl. The undercard today at Charlottenlund was a good one with performers of all ages. Winners of interest were Tycoon Conway Hall, Dark Xray and Stand And Deliver among others. Two year-olds contested an Open event on the Charlottenlund card with 50,000DKK (US$7,550) to the winner on the 2000 meters autostart course. The 1.15.9kr winner was Big Mac PD (2m Reinsman Hanover-Hot Dice-Dancer’s Victory) driven by Steen Juul for trainer Gordon Dahl. Second was Bali (2m The Liquidator-Omega Sund-Sugarcane Hanover) driven by Pauli Andersen with third to Breaking Point (2g Tritun Sund-Jeans Frokjer-Little Devil) for driver Birger Jorgensen. Tycoon Conway Hall (5m Conway Hall-Golden Sunday-Supergill) took a fast class event for five year-olds clocked in 1.11.6kr over 1600 meters autostart. Steen Juul reined the winner, also one that he trains. He earned 50,000DKK with this victory over Caprino BR (5g Rotation-Desdemona Dei-Muscles Yankee) with Kim Pedersen aboard. This winner has performed consistently well against those of his age throughout Europe. The Subaru Summer Meeting Final (80,000DKK to winner, 2000 meters autostart) went to the Hakkan K. Persson reined Dark Xray (4m Crazed-Mascara-Spotlite Lobell) clocked in 1.13.1kr for owner/breeder Ann Kristen Johnsrud.
