Eliminations for the $500,000 Empire Breeders' Classics will headline a twelve race harness racing card on Saturday night at Vernon Downs. Leading the way for sixteen trotting fillies in the first division is Jezzy from the always powerful Ray Schnittker stable.

Dr Dreamy and Brian Sears captured the $217,250 final of the Empire Breeder's Classic on Sunday night at the Tioga Downs harness racing track. Sears got away third as the field past the opening quarter in 27.4 with David Miller and Malicious moving to the front, however Sears let no dust settle and moved Dr Dreamy to the front with a second panel of 27.1, reaching the half in 55.

Malicious and David Miller have been given the nod as the 2-1 morning line favorites for the $217,250 Empire Breeder's Classic Final for 3-year old harness racing colt pacers on Sunday night at Tioga Downs (Post Time 6:30 pm).

The Tioga & Vernon Downs race dates and stakes calendar has been ironed out for the 2009 racing season (pending regulatory approval from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board). Vernon Downs will begin their 90 day season on Friday, April 17th and conclude 2009 on Saturday, November 7th.

The Peter Pan Stable's homebred filly Epangeline, and Make It Happen, owned by the Eat My Dust Stable, Daisy Acres, Howard Taylor and Jack Adkins, gave trainer-driver Ray Schnittker dual victories in the Empire Breeder's Classic finals for 3-year-old trotters on Memorial Day afternoon at Vernon Downs.

It took a photo finish to determine the winner of the $242,275 Empire Breeder's Classic for 3-year old colt & gelding pacers on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs. The result was Bullville Powerful and Yannick Gingras by inches over Riggins and Ray Schnittker.

Vernon will host the finals of the Empire Breeder’s Classic for 3-year old New York bred trotters on Monday, May 26th (Memorial Day) with a post time of 1:15 p.m. The $237,675 final for 3-year old trotting fillies has been slated as race six on the afternoon’s nine race card. Creamy Mimi has been made the 5/2 morning line favorite for driver Jim Morrill Jr. and trainer Trond Smedshammer.
