June 14, 2015 - An excellent performance on today’s Bjerke OGP harness racing card was set by Billie de Montfort (4f Jasmin de Flore-Quismy de Montfort-And Arifant) and teamster Eric Raffin. The Sebastien Guarato trainee, owned by Philippe Dauphin, scored with ease in 1.10.8kr to increase her earnings to 8,031,876Nokr. The long bodied, long-striding filly now has a slate of 14-6-3-1 in 25 career starts. The FR bred female defeated the boys as Mr. Lindy (Cantab Hall) and Orjan Kihlstrom was second in his initial appearance in Europe after import from the US. Third was Expo Express (Expo Bi) and reinsman Jorma Kontio with Jerry Riordan trainee Sylvester America (Varenne) fourth for Bjorn Goop. Kapow Hanover (Explosive Matter) set a quick and steady pace with Mr. Lindy and Well Built following until Billie crushed their hopes. Sylvester America came from the back and a three-wide final turn surge got him into contention but he did not threaten the top three. The even-money favorite recorded career win 12 in 27 starts for earnings in excess of €857,000. The Criterium de Vitesse (€100,000, International with 13 starters, 1609 meters autostart) winner was clocked in a rapid 1:52.3 (1.09.8kr). The featured Gr. I UET Masters Series Prix de L’lle de France (€200,000 purse, 2175 meters, International, 12 starters) produced what appeared to be a  wide rally by the “Grande-Dame” of French trotting Roxane Griff (10f Tenor de Baune - Julia Mesloise-Sancho Panca) as she scored narrowly across the line for Eric Raffin, harness racing trainer Sebastien Guarato and owner Ecurie Griff.  The 3/5 favorite was, however, disqualified after steward investigation and this denied her from achieving the €3 million mark in career earnings. Roxane again drifted very wide in the stretch as she did in the Prix de Cornulier on January 18th (Eric Raffin commented post-race that the great champion used her heart to overcome pain).  Placed first was Udayama (7f Echo - Lancia du Pont) trained by Lois Groussard and handled by Gaetan Prat and race pacesetter Talicia Bella (8f General du Pommeau -Illicia Bella), ridden by Anthony Barrier, was placed second ahead of Seduisant Fouteau.
