Uncle Peter and reinsman Johnny Takter next face the harness racing starter Friday at Ostersund in the Gr. II International Jamtlands Store Pris, a UET Masters Series test with 750,000SEK to the winner. It's a well-balanced field and anyone has a chance. Mosaique Face and Oasis Bi (early favorite) could be a factor along with Digital Ink and On Track Piraten. Nahar (Torbjorn Jansson listed to drive) last made a miscue in defense of his 2013 Elitloppet victory and the Robert Bergh trainee is in this one along with stablemate Amaru Boko that Ulf Eriksson will drive. It was announced over the weekend that American trotting star Corky will stay in Sweden for a couple of months. Today it was decided that Uncle Peter will also remain in Scandinavia. Uncle Peter has earned 7.8 million SEK during his career and is one of the top horses in the USA. In Scandinavia he hasn't showed full potential, finishing fifth place in the Copenhagen Cup and tiring in his Elitloppet elimination to fail qualifying for the final. Uncle Peter hopes to obtain a start in the Oslo Grand Prix. Uncle Peter will join Corky at Daniel Reden's Stable Zet where they will be trained by Tobias J. Gustafsson. Backfire (4f by Offshore Dream) and Poochai (4m Make It Happen) took tonight’s companion Gr. I International events at Aby. Gothenburg, the Drottning Silvias Pokal for four year-old mares and the Konung Gustaf V’s Pokal for four year-old males. Both carried a purse of €199,930 with the winners’ share being €99,970. Backfire scored in 1.12.6kr over 2140 meters autostart, driven by Johnny Takter for a two length victory from Air Frame and Bjorn Goop. Heavily supported D’One (4f Donato Hanover-Giant Diablo-Supergill) came from far back to be third. Summary and video replay link are shown below with official program that follows: http://abytravet.se/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/140528_aby_Web.pdf May 28, 2014 Aby Gothenburg Sweden, Drottning Silvia Pokal, Gr. The son of Make It Happen (son of Conway Hall that successfully raced in the USA) rallied in the lighting lane for the win over Sir Ratzeputz and teamster Jorma Kontio. Poochai was first to lead and then settled in the pocket behind Boys Going In with Amazing Man in the death seat. Sir Ratzeputz was first to advance three wide. Poochai waited for the inside passing lane and rallied to victory. Rolex Bigi, and reinsman Anders Svanstedt, was third over and empty in the drive, ending eighth. Bjorn Goop steered Richard Westerink's Timoko (7m Imoko-Kiss Me Coulonces-And Arifant) to victory in today's first Elitloppet elimination. Timed in 1.09.9kr over 1609 meters autostart, the winner rated second over throughout following Digital Ink (Orjan Kihlstrom up) with Maven and Yannick Gingras placed third on the outer. Shaq Is Back and Daniel Reden was the pacesetter traveling the first 500 meters in 1.08kr. Off the final turn Timoko moved to the front with a game Digital Ink second and Maven third after being forced three-wide in that last turn. The winner now has 21 career wins in 59 starts for earnings of 20,285,351SEK. Reven d'Amour finished fourth for Erik Adielsson with Truculent fifth for Johnny Takter. Prussia ended sixth for Pietro Gubellini after being boxed on the inner almost to the line. by Thomas H. Hicks, for Harnesslink.com

Lutfi Kolgjini reined Mosaique Face (5m Classic Photo-Iona LB-Supergill) to a convincing front-end win in the Volkswagen Sweden Cup Final, worth 500,000SEK ($76,000 US) to the winner. The winner recorded his 11th victory in 32 starts now for earnings of 5,524,230SEK ($800,000 US). Racing barefoot, after racing with shoes in his elim, Mosaique Face defended his post one start and forced lead-contending Beer Summit into a speed-miscue shortly after the start. Once done Kolgjini raced on the lead thereafter and held second finishing Francais du Gull (7m Jag de Bellouet-Tantiem Gull-Lindy Lane) In The Pocket for Erik Adielsson the rest of the way. O'Grady ended third in the race timed in 1.09.9kr, after the first 1000 meters in a rated 1.11kr. The winner was sharp and speedy through the line. Mosaique Face made a break in the recent Copenhagen Cup after shying at the white parade horse that was in the infield. Otherwise he too might be in the Elitloppet along with stablemate Raja Mirchi that could be a contender tomorrow, especially with the hot nature of the Kolgjini stable. The Sweden Cup is quite a race conducted this day before a huge, appreciative gathering at Solvalla. Solvalla Sweden Cup action began at 10:30am local time in Stockholm but the real action began later with the first two Sweden Cup eliminations, each with 100,000SEK awarded to the winners. Mosaique Face took the first test with a win by disqualification for trainer/driver Lutfi Kolgjini in 1.09.5kr over 1609 meters autostart. The five-year-old son of Classic Photo-Iona LB-Supergill is owned by Tommy Nilsson Holding AB and he led from the start to just before the line. Ed You (by Love You) got by for Robert Bergh but was a dq due to interference to Lindys Jersey Boy in the stretch. Bergh was locked on the inner and pulled a bit early into the path of Lindys Jersey Boy causing that one to go off-stride. Next across the line were Francais du Gull, O’Grady (Denmark), and Opitergium (Italy). Elim B Sweden Cup went to Monster Drive and Bjorn Goop. Timed in 1.10.2kr the pair defeated Beer Summit (USA), Traveling Man and Democrat. The  Yannick Gingras driven Paladin Blue made a three-wide move on the backstretch and made a miscue in the final turn. Monster Drive recorded his 18th career win in 87 starts for 4,477,191 earned. He’s an eight year-old son of Thai Tanic-Kewpie-Pearsall Hanover. Commander Crowe was scratched sick. Other race results are as follows: Vilukko (5g Love You-Buwarienne-Buvetier d’Aunou), trainer/driver Tommi Kylliainen, 1.11.7kr over 1609 meters autostart, his 10th win in 19 starts Bret Boko (6g Yankee Glide-Simb Capri-Probe), Jorma Kontio up, 1.10,.4kr over 1609 meters autostart, 18th win in 42 outings Quick Fix (5g From Above-Glued-Sugarcane Hanover), Adrian Kolgjini for trainer Lutfi Kolgjini, 1.13.1kr over 2140 meters autostart, his fourth win in only 10 starts for 234,600SEK earned Royal Fighter (6m Varenne-Froken Julie-Supergill), Jennifer Tillman up for trainer Per K. EriKsson, 1.11.3kr over 2140 meters autostart, his seventh win in 43 tries for 796,500SEK earned. The 2014 edition of the Elitloppet is a well-matched group in the two eliminations drawn today. The USA domiciled entrants are in separate divisions with Maven from pp6 in the first and Uncle Peter (David Miller listed to drive) from pp3 in the second group. Maven will battle last year's winner Nahar (Robert Bergh trained and driven) and four Europeans currently racing well, Shaq Is Back, Prussia, Timoko (with new reinsman Bjorn Goop up - victorious in their last outing) and yesterday's impressive winner and final invitee Truculent. Uncle Peter appears to have drawn the easier group albeit often rough-gaited Caballion was a winner in his last outing. Panne de Moteur and Delicious (USA developed by Ron Gurfein) are consistent performers and on a given day Raja Mirchi and Pascia'Lest can show up with a solid effort. Elimination A 1.
