Uncle Peter has earned 7.8 million SEK during his career and is one of the top horses in the USA. Sweden provides an opportunity for stayers to gain valuable UET Masters Series points at Orebro on Saturday night, also doubling as the last leg of the V75. Swedish Masterskap winner On Track Piraten off a 40 metre handicap to the front runners is the class runner in the race. The altered son of French stallion Kool du Caux, is a group one winner over a staying distance having won Germany's top race last year, the Grosser Preis Von Deutschland, at Hamburg over the 2720m distance. Hans R Stromberg's gelding is also the winner of the CL Mullers Memorial over 2640m at Jagersro and the Masterskap or Swedish Championships at Aby over the same distance, both races carrying group two status. His sire Kool de Caux was second in the Prix d'Amerique (2700m) but also had a good turn of speed with victories in the Group one Copenhagen Cup (2011m) and the Prix de France (2100m) in a stellar career in which he won 1.5 million euro and took a record of 1.09.8 (1.52.2MR). "The Pirate's" major opposition will come from the likes of last year's winner New Line a Danish-bred son of King Conch who was trained in the victory by Ake Svanstedt, who of course is now resident in the United States but has transferred the horse to son Anders' stable. New Line has true staying credentials, not only winning this event last year but placing in the Harper Hanovers Lopp, the staying test on Elitloppet weekend, and the Malmo Stads Pris, another 3km marathon. Another with claims is Mellby Viking, the royally bred son of Viking Kronos, who relishes the longer distance. He has a super French pedigree, being from the family of Romee, the foundation mare for a family which includes Prix du Cornulier winner Dream With Me, Indy de Vive, the sire of Ready Cash, Italian Derby winner Daguet Rapide - another highly successful sire - Lazio du Bourg, who won the Criterium des 3 Ans, and Giesolo de Lou, who won just shy of 2 million euro to name but a few. Mellby VIking is very lightly raced, with just 22 starts for 13 wins and two placings, but 3 of the wins are at this distance, and one suspects trainer Timo Nurmos has some choice French missions ahead for the six-year-old stayer who is off the 20m handicap. Porthos Amok is also one who could figure prominently. He is a son of Orlando Vici, a French sire whose son Un Mec D'Heripre is one of the rising stars in his native land. Orlando Vici has also Great Success in Sweden, with Pato a TravKriterium and TravDerby winner while Porthos Amok, himself, was second in last year's Swedish TravDerby. Another Swedish Travderby winner Beau Mec is actually in the race. Robert Bergh's a son of Jag de Bellouet, one of the true greats of the French scene, winning 4.4million euros on the back of victories in both the Prix d'Amerique and Prix Cornulier, the top races in France in harness and under saddle, and each race of the French triple crown. Beau Mec has won twice in France but apart from his Group one Travderby success, has largely been a bit part player since that win as a 4YO. Some of the heavyweights of Swedish racing have made the journey to Norway this weekend as the Scandinavian circuit kicks off with top group racing at Klosterskogen. The meeting is on Saturday is highlighted by the UET Masters Series Klosterskogen Grand Prix over 2100m for a purse of 74,000 euros, one of two group two races to be run, drawing highly competitive international fields. Lutfi Kolgjini's Mosaique Face is the current European Derby and Swedish Derby champion. The stallion son of Classic Photo made his season debut on the 4th of the month running fourth at Mantorp, so will be better for this. Erik Lindegren's Francais du Gull has been in very impressive form lately having won a V75 gold division heat last month and also run second at Momarken, here in Norway, earlier in the year. He won't be meeting the likes of Sanity and Raja Mirchi here as he did last start in the V75 final. These two have the early favouritism in the markets with US import I'm The Answer, a Credit Winner trained by local trainer Frode Hamre Another local hero Thai Broadway is also heavily supported with the only other in the market being Italian-bred Oasis Bi who is now in Sweden with Stefan Petterson and will have champion Swedish driver Bjorn Goop in the cart. The second race of note is the NO Habibs Minneløp, a group two for 4YOs over 2100m, a 200,000NOK (24,175 euros) which has drawn a strong Scandinavian field led by even money favourite Becky's Serious a Staro Showbiz stallion from the local barn of Vidar Holmlund. Frode Hamre has another with a chance here in Mucsles Yankee colt Mustoyevsky who will have Per Oleg Midtfjeld in the cart. Kolgjini never travels with a bad horse and Dante Boko is a colt by boom Swedish sire Going Kronos and is sure to be prominent here. American breeding is well represented in a field of four colts and eight fillies which line up for the top two-year-old race in Sweden, the Uppfödningslöpning  worth 141,000 euros  to the winner and over 1640m at Jagersro on Saturday. US resident Broadway Hall has two fillies in the race including the likely favourite, Solvalla’s Breeders Crown winner Enya Boko,  bred by the massive Boko Stables and a winner of five of her six starts. Broadway Hall’s other entrant is the Dutch-bred Everreach Draviet who is trained by Ola Samuelsson     and will have the advantage of Johnny Takter in the bike. Popular first season US-resident sire Muscle Hill also has two fillies in Eileen Boko, a winner of her Uppfödningslöpning heat for Lufti Kolgjini and non-winner Catwalk In, who is out of a mare by French sire Buvetier d’Aunou and coincidentally a half-sister to Kolgjini’s promising Orion Kronos who is now racing in France. Catwalk In is trained and driven by Fredrik Persson.      The other US sires are both ex-pats and include former Hambletonian winner Scarlet Knight, who was a top racehorse in Europe and a very successful sire already, and he has the colt Al Dente in the field, the winner of one of his four starts for trainer Tommy Hanne, who has given up the drive for Erik Adielsson. US Breeders Crown 2YO champ Banker Hall has the filly How Amazing Tooma, the winner of one from four for trainer-driver Jan Nordin. American National winner Clerk Magistrate is the sire of  Per Lennartsson’s colt Orion Tilly, the winner of the first two of his five starts including the Breeders Crown in Bergsaker. His granddam Icora Tilly, a fine racemare herself was an even better broodmare producing one of Sweden’s greatest horses, Victory Tilly, and five other winners of between $585,000 and $105,000. In total she produced 11 winners from 14 foals.     Roger Malmquist’s Going Kronos colt Soonerorlater, who won his qualifier for the Uppfödningslöpning and has been placed in both his Breeders Crown races this year. He is a product of Menhammar Stuteri, which stands Going Kronos, a promising Swedish-bred son of Viking Kronos. Viking  Kronos is represented himself in the race with Lutfi Kolgjini’s second entrant in the race, a who won his qualifier for the Uppfödningslöpning for the popular Swedish horseman. Lars I Nilsson’s filly  Si See Sea is another product of Swedish breeding, being by the Franco-American Jocose, a winner of the equivalent of $750,000 and had a record of 1.53.4. French sires are represented by the winner Bullyoung (c Love You) and  M.T.Jest (c Magnificent Rodney)  who are both out of American standardbred mares, a mix that is very successful in Scandinavia. The Breeders Crown for 3YO males at Eskilstuna tonight throws up an interesting mix of form and class into the equation with several highly touted colts vying with some late bloomers showing good form. Travkompianet’s Rolling Stones started off his career with eight wins on the trot including the Group I E3 final but has been struggling of late and didn’t make the final of the biggest race of the season, the Trav-Kritierium. Stefan Hultiman’s son of Viking Kronos has the chance to atone here although he again did not flatter in the semifinal, running fourth. He would not need to improve too much to be a major factor in this race. Final Oak was third in the Trav-Kriterium, while AlkalizerAm and Boys Going In also earned a cheque in the Swedish Classic. But the form horse is Call Me Keeper who was very impressive in his semifinal where he recorded his seventh win in just nine race starts. Danel Reden’s son of Pine Chip showed he could make the step up to elite classes with that performance and a similar run here will put him right in contention. The ace pole is taken by Svante Bath’s Poochai who has won his two two races after a short break  after disappointing in the E3 final, which was his biggest test to date. He has the perfect draw to take advantage of his gate speed. Another who is stepping up in class but looked very good in his semifinal is Leif Witasp’s Broadway Hall colt Cool Keeper,  and he is another who could win this if he continues his improvement. Italian-bred Viking Kronos and his sons Going Kronos and Make It Happen  provide half of the field with two apiece, while Olimede is the only representative from the French sirelines in the field which otherwise comprise pure North American sirelines, which perhaps represent their early speed bias. There are two US based sires represented in Muscles Yankee and Broadway Hall. In the absence of two Swedish millionaire hotshots in Rolling Stones (8 wins in a row) who  sensationally broke in his heat and Vasterbo Loveboat, a 10 win colt who also missed qualification, the Travkriterium (4 million SEK) is now a wide open affair. There certainly doesn’t look like any Maharajah, Mr Lavec, Remington Crown or Zoogin in this lineup for one of the feature races of the Swedish season raced over 2640m on the Solvalla track. A strong case could be made for Henrik Hoffman’s colt Final Oak (Make it Happen)  who has won his last three in a row to make it six wins and two placings from 12 starts. He was a hot favourite in his heat and covered the 2640m in under 2 minute time. He will have Erik Adielsson  on board this week as Jorma Kontio is engaged to drive his usual employer Timo Nurmos’ colt Jens Patrik. A son of dual Prix d’Amerique winner Offshore Dream, Jens Patrik is just a 2 win horse, with his heat win just his second but it was the second fastest of the night, a tidy 1.14.1 (1.59.1MR)  for the 2640m  journey. His driver Kontio, will be going for his third win in the event. Nurmos also has  Sir Ratzeputz (Love You) who will be driven by Åke Svanstedt in the field but he has only won three minor races so far and the heat place getter has a horror draw   Alkalizer Am  has only had five starts but you can’t fault the form of  Olimede  gelding who is trained and driven by Marcus Lindgren. He has won his last four on the trot and his Swedish bred dam Alltid V.G. was very good in this age group with a win in the Coccinelles and second placings in the E3 Langa, Guldstoet and at 4 seconds in the Stochampionet and Breeders Crown.   Perhaps in the absence of true star power, his credentials shine a little brighter. Veijo Heiskanen trained and drove  Amazing Man (Ken Warkentin) to the fastest time in the heats at a very slick 1.13.5 (1.58.1MR) for the 2640m. He now has four minor wins in 11 starts and isn’t the worst. Fredrik Persson trains  Boys Going In (Going Kronos) who has won five of nine including a win in the Going Kronos Mile on July 30 in Jagersro in 1.56 which earned him a 300,000SEK pay day. His driver will be Johnny Takter  who will be looking to emulate his brother Jimmy, who won the race in 1994 with Mr Lavec. Rokkakudo (Varenne) is a product of the giant Menhammar Stud and his win in the heat was his best performance so far, and just his second in 16 starts although he was third in the E3 heats and fifth in the final. Anna Forssell  trains the colt who will be driven by  Ulf Ohlsson. The ace draw went to Nimbus C.D. (Mythical Lindy) is trained by Per Nordström at Jagersro and has had five wins in just eight starts but the win in the kriterium heats was his biggest. The gelding is however the half brother to European Derby and Breeders Crown winner Kadett C.D who actually finished eighth in this race. Stefan Hultman has trained three winners of this race and he his entry Ruhuna Tea (Viking Kronos)  was a hot favourite when going down in that heat  and is also from the Menhammar Stud champion factory, and has a pretty smart record with 2 wins and 4 seconds from just 8 starts to date.  He is out of Victory Dream mare Dimbula who was third in the Group II Ulf Thorensens Minneslop and from the good family of Hambletonian winner Duenna.   He also has five time Travkriterium winning driver  Örjan Kihlström  in the cart. Roger Walmann’s  Carelin (Super Arnie )  has won three minor races while Bjorn Goop’s B.B. Tigger has only had three starts, but has won two of them. Who knows, in this field they could surprise.
