Oamaru's Daniel Fletcher has won $1,050 thanks to Harnesslink, the New Zealand Tab's harness racing book-maker Steve Richardson, and open class pacer, Franco Ledger. Gore born Fletcher won our fixed odds betting competition on the Group Three Maurice Holmes Vase at Addington Raceway last night (Friday September 7).

For harness racing fans and followers it would come as no surprise to see the surname Hunter attached to the winning results of a Southland meeting. At the Gore Harness Racing Club's meeting held today (Sunday) it was no different, but it may have surprised many to see the first name wasn't Hamish or Peter, but their brother and ex-pat Southlander Henderson.

Southland produced the big Cup winners of 1978/79, Trusty Scot taking the Addington event and Sapling prevailing at Alexandra Park. Like Sole Command, Trusty Scot was by the 1959 Auckland Cup winner Scottish Command.
