Swedish invader Sanity (8g Love You-Flash Light-Mack Lobell) overcame a 25 meter penalty to win today's Gr. III 120,000 euro purse European Prix de Brest for upper level performers at Paris-Vincennes. Handled by Franck Ouvrie for trainer Malin Lofgren and owner Stall Sanity, the pair rallied late for a close victory over Tornade du Digeon and long shot Sierra Leone. Sanity won for the 28th time now for earnings of 915,895 euro. This handicap race was the Quinte+ event of the day, with a 2.8 million euro jackpot, and it produced a competitive driving finish to the line. January 18, 2014 Paris Vincennes - Prix de Brest, Gr. The Swedish invasion is in full swing as Sanity arrives in France to contest the rich Prix de Brest, an international group three, with group two money at stake, 120,000 euros for the 2850m race at Vincennes on Saturday. Malin Löfgren's Love You gelding won two races last year in France, and picked up second and third place cheques in a successful raid on the French Winter Meeting riches and returns from a three-month layoff. He will start off the 25metre mark in the hands of Franck Ouvrie and is one of four elite international horses in the 17 horse field. Another Swedish-bred son of Love You in Global Manhattan, now in the stable of Fabrice Souloy and fellow V75 gold division stalwart Maxwell Mayday, a Finnish S J's Photo gelding to be driven by Frenchman Dominik Locqueneux for Finland's Jarmo Niskanen make up the Scandinavian contingent. Italy will be represented by Marco Smorgon's Libeccio Grif, a Lotteria-winning son of Andover Hall, who will be handled by local driver Pierre Vercruysse will start of the 25m mark. But despite his group one credentials he will be sent out at very long odds. French handicappers have stuck with their own making a loose favourite, in a wide open betting field is last start winner Sissi du Morin, a journeyman on the Trot Europeene Francais circuit. Philippe Daugeard's 8YO mare by Grassano has won 14 of 59 career starts, but has been consistently in the money of late. Jean Michel Bazire's Tornade du Digeon is the second favourite while also well supported is Jean Etienne Dubois' Turbo Jet. Also coming in for early local support are Sam Gibus a Jet Fortuna gelding trained and driven by Sebastien Baude, Starter du Rib, a Ganymede gelding from Joel Hallais' barn and Ton Reve de Cahot, a Hand du Vivier gelding trained by Jean Pierre Thomain. All three, who leave from the front mark, are at shorter odds than the European contingent.. Twenty-four international trotters were engaged to contest the 700,000 euro, UET Masters Series, Gr. I Prix de Cornulier on Sunday at Paris-Vincennes. The monte classic, held one week prior to the Prix d'Amerique, produces an invite for the winner to the Prix d'Am. If they remain in the final field, there are prior Prix d'Amerique starters (e.g.,Roxane Griff) in the mix along with youngsters who perform well in monte events (e.g., Vision Intense at age five). Last year's winner, Singalo, will be at the start for trainer Louis Baudron. Irrespective of the outcome this event is a must see for trotting fans, especially those that embrace monte. The Prix de Cornulier was born in 1931 and has been raced annually thereafter except for 1940-41. Two winners, Bellino II and Jag de Bellouet, scored in the Cornulier and then the Prix d'Amerique. The fastest winning time so far was the 2012 victory by Quif de Villeneuve in 1.12kr. Singalo's outstanding win a year ago was timed in 1.12.7kr in the snow. There have been three triple winners of the Cornulier, the most recent being Jag de Bellouet (2004 through 2006), then Kaiser Trot in 1981-2 and again in 1984 and Bellino II in 1973 followed by his back to back scores in 1975-6. There have been 12 two-time winners including Tidalium Pelo, Tabriz, Dream With Me, One du Rib and First de Retz (an excellent sire of monte trotters). Yarrah Boko (9m Coktail Jet-Big Blue Kitten-Pine Chip) scored a rallying victory in today's fourth "B", the 120,000 euro purse Prix de Belgique over 2850 meters turning start, UET Masters Series International, 15 starters. Strategically handled by Pierre Vercruysse, Yarrah Boko scored in 1.14.4kr and repeated his performance of winning this event a year ago. Trond Anderssen trains the winner for owner Jan Erik Anderssen. Holland's Boko Stables bred the winner, now with 36 career wins for earnings in excess of 1.1 million euro. Vercruysse left alertly with Yarrah Boko to take the lead and then yielded to race in third on the inside until top of the long Paris-Vincennes lane. Blocked briefly, the pair escaped and moved three wide to wear down the leaders. Yarrah Boko did not start in the 2013 Prix d'Amerique due to injury and then returned to racing on July 14 with three straight wins. He last raced October 26 at Jagersro finishing third in the C.L. Mullers Memorial Several competitors also raced well today including the six year-old youngster Univers de Pan, the race favorite, Save The Quick and The Best Madrik both of which finished strongly after overcoming 25 meter handicaps. Vanika du Ruel, the speedy five year-old mare handled by Franck Anne, made a strong push at the leaders around the last bend to get into contention before fading to seventh. A large enthusiastic crowd was on hand for the excellent racing card with the Prix de Belgique being today's Quinte+ race of the day. Dam of the winner, Big Blue Kitten (1997, Pine Chip-Dasooner Dabettor-Meadow Road) took a 3, 2:00.4h record at Freehold and at three won the Lady Suffolk and in Sweden the Elitsto. She was bred by UK and NBA basketball legend Sam Bowie and sold November 10, 2001 to Boko Stables. The $80,000 yearling at Kentucky Select Sale thus disappeared from USTA records. She has produced six foals in Europe, five winners, six money winners including Yarrah Boko, Wolf Boko (by Lemon Dra), Zola Boko (by Goetmals Wood), Aristocrat Boko )by From Above), Boa Boko (by Express It) and Nostradamos Face (by Varenne). The injury of Prix d'Amerique favourite Texas Charm has dominated the headlines for the world's greatest trot in recent days, but there is still business aplenty for prospective participants with the two last chances for entry being held on a fantastic day of racing on Sunday. The Prix de Belgique, the last of the B races and the Prix Tenor Baune for six-year-olds, both offer a ticket to the big dance as well as UET Masters Series points to the first five home in each race - so there is plenty of offer besides the 120,000 euros, which like all races in France, is divided up among the first seven to cross the line. The earlier of the two is the Prix de Belgique, race four on the card and missing injured Texas Charm and the already qualified Ready Cash and Triode de Felliere -the first three home in the third B race, the Prix de Bourgogne at the end of December. The latter two will be keeping their powder dry, although Triode de Felliere is better over the shorter distance, which of course casts doubt over his Prix d'Amerique credentials. The Prix de Belgique is a tough final test for the Prix d'Amerique's aged candidates, being over the staying distance of 2850m and the early favouritism has gone to Univers de Pan, Philippe Daugeard's tough campaigner who has yet to win a group one race, but is the richest of the U generation. Criterium Continental winner Victoire comes into this race after three wins in a row against her own five-year-old crop and this is a big step up for Danielle Mottier's daughter of Kitko but French handicappers are confident she can. Being the last of the B races, handicappers also know there is a dividing line between the likes of Royal Dream, Save The Quick and The Best Madrik, who are superior horses and start of 25m but don't need the win to make the Prix d'Amerique - and the rest that do. So horses like Italian Marielles and Norway's Yarrah Boko - who won this race last year - will be at shorter odds than normal against the backmarkers. Soleil du Fosse and Talicia Bella, who would not normally figure highly in the market are also horses who come into this category. The Tenor de Baune is race six on the card and features a super lineup of six-year-olds, headed by Uhlan du Val, the winner of the Prix de Bretagne, the first of the B races of the Winter Meeting. Second in that race was Criterium des 5 Ans winner Up and Quick from Franck Leblanc's powerful Ecurie Quick Star barn and this pair will be fighting out more than just the favouritism here. Cyril Raimbaud's Une Fille d'Amour beat most of these home in the group two Prix Doynel de Saint-Quentin at the end of December and is the deserved third favourite in early markets. Sweden and Italy are represented by five horses, Vincennes, Disco A.E. and Rocky Winner from the Scandinavian powerhouse and Oropuro Bar and Orient Horse from the southern stronghold. The winner of last year's Tenor de Baune was a Swede, Raja Mirchi, who was withdrawn from Prix d'Amerique contention late last month. A third group two of the day is race seven, the 120,000 euro Prix Gelinotte over 2700m which features the top three-year-old fillies who are preparing for next month's Criterium des Jeunes. The first two home in last month's Prid Une de Mai, Sebastien Guarato's Billie de Montfort and Philippe Allaire's Be My Girl are vying for the early favouritism with French handicappers picking the daughter of Love You to reverse the order here. Most of the field competed in the first of their generation's big races last start, with the first five home appearing here, with the only notable absentee being the beaten favourite Brindille de Mai, although Franck Anne is represented by outsider Balade de Blary. Bergame Madrik, Beauty Turgot, Bassana de Marlau and Biguglia also have solid support on the market. Finally Rapide du Digeon and Rubis Daipet head a talented monte lineup in race 8, the Prix Djerid, a 2200m group III for six-year-olds and over which includes Prix de Cornullier hopefuls Sakura Jiel and Quarlos. The two favourites Rapide du Digeon and Rubis Daipet are ineligible for the world's richest under saddle event next weekend, because they are geldings, but both have been in great form this winter meeting. Rapide du Digeon was second behind rising star Ulysse in the rich Prix du Calvados last weekend and won the Prix August Francois in mid November, beating most of this field. Rubis Dairpet was third in that race, but a week earlier had beaten Rapide du Digeon into second in the Group II Prix Paul Buquet, the first big monte of the Winter Meeting. 12/01/14 Vincennes PRIX DE BELGIQUE   Group II Int 2850m 4-10 €120 000 1 Talicia Bella (7m General du Pommeau - Illicia Bella) Dr: Anthony Barrier Tr: Jean Paul Marmion 2 Victoire (5m Kitko - Juventa Blue) Dr: Mathieu Mottier Tr: Danielle Mottier 3 Soleil du Fosse (8h Jag de Bellouet - Fortune du Fosse) Dr: Thierry Duvaldestin Tr: Thierry Duvaldestin 4 Marielles (8m Kick Tail - Egida Play) Dr: Mathieu Abrivard Tr: Fabrice Souloy 5 Renommee d'Obret (9m Buvetier d'Aunou - Dixie L'Aventure) Dr: Franck Ouvrie Tr: Philippe Emmanuel Trible 6 Univers de Pan (8h Kenya du Pont - Gypsilore) Dr: Philippe Daugeard Tr: Philippe Daugeard 7 Roxana de Barbray (9m Speed Clayettois - Iriane des Enclos) Dr: Eric Raffin Tr: Roberto Donati 8 Severino (8h Gobernador - Katia de Tillard) Dr: Christian Bigeon Tr: Roger Coueffin 9 Vanika du Ruel (5m Jardy - Jacarandine) Dr: Franck Anne Tr: Franck Anne 10 Quinoa du Gers (10h Ganymede - Targa du Chalange) Dr: Fabrice Souloy Tr: Fabrice Souloy 11 Yarrah Boko (9h Coktail Jet - Big Blue Kitten) Dr: Pierre Vercruysse Tr: Trond Anderssen 12 Reve de Beylev (9h Fortuna Fant - Heloise Poterie) Dr: Dominik Locqueneux Tr: Sebastien Guarato 13 The Best Madrik (7h Coktail Jet - Lady Madrik) Dr: Jean Etienne Dubois Tr: Jean Etienne Dubois 25 14 Save the Quick (8m Jasmin de Flore - Heureuse Duchesse) Dr: Jean Michel Bazire Tr: Franck Leblanc 25 15 Royal Dream (9h Love You - Ida Bourbon) Dr: Jean Philippe Dubois Tr: Philippe Moulin 25   PRIX Tenor de Baune   Group II Int 2 700m 6YO €120,000 1 Ultimo Vingt (6h Hasting - Korinella) Dr: Philippe Ternisien Tr: Philippe Ternisien 2 Orient Horse (6h Abano As - Irma Del Rio) Dr: Mathieu Abrivard Tr: Fabrice Souloy 3 Disco A.E. It is a rich day of racing on Saturday at Vincennes with a pair of  Group I, Group II and Group III's featuring the Prix Maurice de Gheest , the male preparatory race for the upcoming Criterium des Jeunes, the first group one for the B generation, which takes place on the third Sunday of February. There is a field of nine top colts assembled including the first five home in last month's top two-year-old race in France the Prix Emmanuel Margouty, led by Philippe Allaire's pair of Ready Cash colts Brilliantissime and Bird Parker who provided the quinella. Brillantissime who will be driven again by Jos Verbeeck is the early favourite, from Bruno de Gueron's Brutus de Bailly (Niky), Franck Anne's Bolide de Gueron (Cygnus d'Odyssee) and Bird Parker who are all heavily supported. Sebastien Guarato's Best of Sly (mam Bourbon) and Thierry Duvadestin's Goetmals Wood colt Bosco du Goutier are also colts with a lot of talent. Earlier in the day the Prix de Croix brings the best staying five-year-olds in Europe in a UET Masters Series race over 2850m. Viking du Val, who was third in the Criterium Continental last month is the early favourite ahead of last year's Criterium des 4 Ans winner Voltigeur De Myrt and Stephane Melander's Swedish stallion Porthos Amok, the runner up in last year's Swedish TravDerby. The backmarker is the well performed group one winning Love You stallion Village Mystic, who was runner up in the Criterium Continental but has to concede a 25m start to his 12 rivals. European group one winners Princess Grif (Italy), a Varenne mare now in Fabrice Solouy's care, and Lars I Nilsson's Dreams Take Time (mweden), an Andover Andover stallion, are also receiving heavy early support alongside French stallion Vigove, a group two winner and a Criterium des 4 Ans placegetter. The day kicks off with the Prix de Luneville, a 95,000 euro monte for 5YOs over 2175m which sees Emannuel Ruault's exciting prospect Votka Bleu back under saddle for the third time, and the first since running second in a stellar field in the Prix Olry Roederer - beating home Vision Intense that day. He will face the emerging talent of Veloce du Banney who comes into the race on the back of two group three monte wins and has compiled a very fine record of five wins in just 12 starts for Franck Leblanc, all of them under saddle. She will be ridden by star monte jockey Yoann Lebourgeois. Vermeer Jarzeen and Vraie Blonde are also last start monte winners with claims in this. The fourth group race on the card is the Prix du Forez, one of the wonderful series of rich races for older horses, which demonstrate the French commitment to providing decent racing for the entirety of a horse's racing life, This group three over 2850m is restricted to horses older than for seven-years-old who race for a purse of 110,000 euros. The favourite is Jean Luc Dersoir's recent winner The de Chine (Blue Eyes America) from Jean Michel Bazire's mare Tornade du Digeon (Jag de Bellouet). Third favourite is Ru de l'Airou, one of the lesser lights of the much-vaunted R generation who has still managed to amass 610,000 euro racing in the shadow of Ready Cash, Rapide Lebel, Royal Dream et al. Like several in this race, the son of Cygnus d'Odyssee is a regular on the Tour Europeene as is the well supporterd Swedishman and Ton Reve de Cahot - also talented geldings who are perhaps a little off the pace among the European elite but given their chance to make decent money in the brilliant French system. Tagade Castelets, in rein to Arnaud-Albert Chavatte, took today's Prix de la Cote d'Or at Cagnes sur mer, the Quinte+ race of the day in France. The seven year-old daughter of Jag de Bellouet earned her fifth win, for career earnings in excess of 132,000 euro. The Quinte+ jackpot today was 1.8 million euro and a winning ticket (top five in exact order without jackpot) paid 8,230 euro for a two euro investment. Handle on just win and place on the Q+ race exceeded 1.1 million euro, illustrating the Q+ race draw across the PMU wagering network and across wagering alternatives. If you are wondering why the fields in the V75 gold division are so poor at the moment, then a quick look at the Vincennes undercard is revealing. If you've got the horsepower, why run around in Halmstad for 33,800 euros gold division money when you can race at Vincennes in the Prix de l'Ille, a sprint over 2100m against France's lesser lights for 105,000 euros. France's big guns are preparing for the Prix'd'Amerique (1,000,000 euros), the Prix Cornullier (700,000 euros), and the swag of group ones like the Criterium des Jeunes (240,000 euros) and two races, worth 120,000 plus - the group two Prix du Calvados monte on the same day is worth 150,000 euros. Simples really. So a top horse like Frederik B Larsson's Caballion , a group two winner in Sweden, will make a beeline for Vincennes at this time of year, where he is joining the likes of Grand Pris de l'UET winner Kadett C.D,, Swedish Travderby winner Pato in the series Winter Series, and V75 gold division heavyweights Maxwell Mayday and Global Manhattan. Swedish trainer Robert Bergh has V75 regular You Bet Hornline entered in the race, while many Scandinavian owners will transfer their horses to top French stables, so you see the likes of Beckman with Fabrice Souloy and Denmark's Partout Simoni with Sebastien Guarato. Indeed, Beckman, a son of Swedish stallion Turbo Sund, is the early second favourite after three good wins in a row at Vincennes including the Prix Constant Hervieu on Christmas Day. Only problem is that the French lesser lights can be French champions on the rise. A quick look at the Prix d'lIlle illumini has a certain Royal Dream (last season's Prix d'Amerique winner) as a recent graduate - in a 2012 race in which US bound Swedish star Sebastian K ran eighth - with two other top Swedes Look MP second, and Oracle sixth. Last season's winner was Triode de Felliere who has set this year's Winter Series alight with a win in the Prix de Bourbonnais and a gallant second in this week's Prix de Bourgogne. Or they are the geldings that are not eligible for the big races, the likes of recently retired superstar Rapide Lebel, or Thierry Duvaldestin's well performed French gelding Swedishman the winner of more than 500,000 euros, who is third favourite on the early markets. The early favourite is from the T-generation, which is really coming to the fore in this Winter Series, Talicia Bella. Jean-Paul Marmion's daughter of General du Pommeau has been gradually brought through the ranks, and has only made one group two appearance, in the Prix des Ducs de Normandie in May, in which two of the favourites for this year's Prix d'Amerique, Texas Charm and Royal Dream went one-two. She beat Caballion into second place in the Prix du Languedoc at Vincennes in mid November, and has had a second and a win since. Two were 2100 meter “sprinter” events off the mobile barrier and speed was prominent in both and one was a monte event over 2175 meters. Early speed generated a rapid pace and set up sharp wins by monte performer Vermeer Jarzeen (Eric Raffin up) in 1.12.6kr, Vuelta du Lys (William Bigeon) in 1.12. 2kr in a four year-old mares event and Tonton Louis (Matthieu Abrivard) in 1.12.1kr. Front marker The de Chine is the early favourite for the 100,000 euros Prix de Bar-Le-Duc, a group three for 5-10YOs at which is the feature Quinte event Vincennes on Saturday. Jean Loic Claude Dersoir's gelded son of Blue Eyes America was the winner of the Group three Prix de Nevers in February and comes into the race with an encouraging second, third and fourth in his four starts since a nine month break, which followed two wins at the start of the year. Those wins were half his total of four in 37 starts, but he has been steadily improving and took his record of 1.12.8 (1.57) over 2700m in the win at Vincennes in January, which is a very good time. Another of the 2850m front line who is attracting early money is Seduisant Fouteau, who will be driven by Charles Dreux for Andre Dreux, is a lightly raced Gazouillis entire, who like much of his stock has taken time to mature. With eight wins in 47 starts, the rising eight-year-old also brings solid form into this race with two second placings in his last two starts in intermediate company at Vincennes. This is only his second start in a 100,000 euro event, but he did run third last time, which was in the traditional Christmas Day feature, the Prix Constance Hervieu, a year ago. A steady improver is Toscane de Bruyere, who will be driven by Francois-Pierre Bossuet for Jean-Baptiste Bossuiet and is also a frontliner. The daughter of Tenor de Baune has won a quarter of her 48 starts including two wins in her last four starts. Indeed one of them was the Prix de Saint-Georges de Didonne, a Group III at Vincennes at the end of November. It is however a strong field, with Jean Paul Marmion's Surprise du Lupin is a last start winner coming in for some strong support off the front mark. But there is plenty of experience and talent off the 25 metre handicap with Alexandre De Jesus' Septuorin top form with two wins in his last three starts including an impressive victory last time of asking. The gelding was also third in the finale of the Grand National de Trot at Vincennes Also off the 25 metre mark is Patrick Martin's Ru de l'Airou who also has a terrific formline, with a fourth last start and two wins preceded by two seconds. Thierry Duvaldestin's Swedishman and Fabrice Solouy's Finnish import Le Cannibale are capable of an upset at good odds. This will be the final Vincennes appearance for David Cinier's journeyman Pas Sans Toi, who has reached retirement age after 13 wins in 136 starts and earnings of 541,360, if the stallion son of In Love With You does not add to it today. Two of those wins were this year, although in minor company, and he may still ply his trade again on the Europeean Tour, in which he participated this year. Today's excellent Paris-Vincennes card was headlined by two Gr. II events. The Prix Une de Mai for juvenile fillies (Gr. II, 120,000 euro purse, 2175 meters, 10 starters). The race went to 9/1 upsetter Billie de Montfort (2f Jasmin de Flore-Quismy de Montfort-And Arifant) in 1.13.7kr for Eric Raffin. The Sebastian Guarato trained, Philippe Dauphin owned filly remained undefeated in five starts, now with earnings of 97,200 euro. She closed stoutly to get by 2/1 favorite Be My Girl (2f Love You-Ornella Rainbow-Extreme Dream) handled by Jos. Verbeeck for trainer Philippe Allaire and owner G. Poulsen-Allaire. This one now has five scores in six starts for 151,950 euro. Beauty Turgot (2f Hand du Vivier-Quouragane-Korean) was third for Franck Nivard ahead of Bassanc de Marlu (2f Sam Bourbon-Jessie de Vonnas-Podosis) reined by her owner Jean-Pierre Dubois. Dubois has recorded 35 wins in 129 starts since May 1st including four graded wins (he has been 69 times 1-2-3). The Prix de Damville (Q+ race of the day, 70,000 euro purse, 2700 meters, 18 starters) was up next as the Quinte+ jackpot was 1.5 million euro today. Valse Mika (4f Niky-Ellamika-Malouin) won this event in 1.14.6kr for Sylvain Roger (trainer/driver) with a strong closing brush for the filly owned by Ecurie La Petteviniere. Her earnings increased to 133,350 euro with this her sixth career win. Victoria du Jouan (4f Insert Gede-Jirondelle-Coktail Jet) held second for Wm. Bigeon and third went to Vega du Noyer (4f Kiwi-Mansourah-Dream With Me). The prestigious Prix Jules Lemonnier (120,000 euro purse, International Gr. II UET Masters Series, monte, 2175 meters, 14 starters) included big-time career winners and perhaps showcased those that may contest the Prix de Cornulier a week prior to the 2014 Prix d'Amerique. Today 15/1 Save The Quick (7f Jasmin de Flore-Heureuse Duchesse-Blue Dream) gained attention as she scored in a quick 1.11.5kr for Mathieu Mottier, in the irons for conditioner Franck Leblanc and Ecurie Quick Star. The splits were fast in this event (1.09.2kr at the 1500, 1.10.4kr at the 1000 and 1.11.6kr at the 500) before they sprinted home. Her career earnings are now 1,557,474 euro with this her 13th lifetime win. 5/1 Singalo (7m Goetmals Wood-Ingala-Buvetier d'Aunou) raced well and held second for David Thomain. Louis Baudron owns and trains Singalo, last years' Prix de Cornulier winner, and a career winner of over 1.1 million euro. 3/1 Quarry Bay (9f Cygnus d'Odyssee-Barcarelle-Fakir du Vivier) also battled throughout and gained third along the pylons for Ms. Camille Levesque. Mike Lenders trains Quarry Bay for Ecurie Pierre Levesque. Veteran Paladin Bleu (10m Jag de Bellouet- Una Picolina-Ianthin) was fourth for Ms. Margot Groli ahead of 2/1 favorite Roxane Griff (8f Tenor de Baune-Julia Mesloise-Sancha Panca)with Eric Raffin aboard for trainer Sebastien Guarato and owner Ecurie Griff. She's a career winner of over 1.7 million euro but today appeared to be disinterested in the challenge until the very late going. The Prix de Strasbourg (80,000 euro purse, 2850 meters, 11 starters) was up next and Quartz de Fleurier (9g Hooper-Urzeile-Jorky) proved the best at 27/1 for P-Y Verva. He scored in 1.15kr for his 15th lifetime win. Pedro Vici (10g Hulk des Champs-Eau de Loir-Lutin d'Isigny) was home second for Wm. Bigeon ahead of Starter du Rib (7g Ganymede-Jiviger-Sancho Panca) and J.L.C. Dersoir. He's owned by Ecurie Rib and conditioned by Joel Hallais, a leading monte trainer. The Prix de Brive-La-Gaillarde (54,000 euro, 2100 meters autostart, 11 starters on the petit piste) showcased three year old males and 3/1 odds Akeste du Goutier (3m Quido du Goutier-Matsayama-Sebrazac) took the easy victory (his sixth career score) for Matthieu Abrivard. Amazar de Florange (3m Echo-Pauleta-Ganymede) secured second for Franck Nivard ahead of As Dore (3m Coktail Jet-Dragee d'Or-Passionnant) handled by Dominik Locqueneux. Note that the two graded events on today's card were won by offspring of Jasmin de Flore (1997 foal by Vivier de Montfort-Etoile du Pasteret-Mon Tourbillon). He won the Prix Jacques Vauloge, Criterium des 4ans, Prix de Milan, Prix de Selection and Criterium des 5ans during a successful career on the racetrack. His close-in pedigree shows no standardbred bloodlines, an 83% French trotter mix and 4% inbreeding coefficient. Tomorrow the 240,000 euro purse Criterium Continental headlines the Paris-Vincennes card. It'd be a brave handicapper who would punt against crack filly Anastasia Fella in the Group I monte, the Prix des Vincennes on Sunday being raced for the princely sum of 240,000 euros. The imposing daughter of Goetmals Wood may have been a costly failure in the Criterium des 3 Ans when sent out favourite in her last start, but she was the brilliant winner of the group one Prix des Elites in her first and only start under saddle at the end of October. It was a commanding performance, defeating as she did the best monte exponents of the two preceding generations, although from a generous 50m handicap advantage. But the key to this race was the fact that the next of her generation to figure in the results was Asana Trembladaise who was more than a second in arrears in seventh place, and has proven herself a very good monte horse. Fabrice Solouy has brought Anastasia Fella from a bit part in the Axelle Dark-Avila show to the leading light of the A generation's amazing crop of fillies. She convincingly beat her rivals (both daughters of boom sire Ready Cash whose colts quinellaed Friday's Prix Emmannuel Margouty) in her next two starts to take the favouritism from the Phiippe Allaire pair in the season 3YO classique in the bike. This is the monte equivalent, and none of the colts who were her vanquishers on December 8 are in this field, the only one saddling up from the Classique is Alizea du Kastel, the winner of the Prix Roquepine in February. The main rival though is going to be the aforementioned Asana Trembladaise who was coming off the back of two monte victories, including a dominating win in the Prix Raoul Balliere, which is held on the same weekend as the Criterium de 3 Ans. Anthony Dollion trains and rides the daughter of Kaudro Wild who will be the second favourite no doubt. Michael Jean Ruault's colt Aston Fly was second in the Prix Raoul Balliere and third in the Prix Louis Tillaye recently, and was also third in the group one Prix d'Essai - the winner of which Arcana des Jacquets has not reappeared for the Winter Season. The son of Hermes de Montfort will need some improvement if he is to challenge the two fillies, although the colts in the Criterium des 3 Ans showed that the much maligned male component of generation A are starting to finally emerge from their shells with their first group one success. Sebastien Guarato's Atwood Griff was third in the Prix Louis Tillaye, but the minor placings may go to a couple of emerging talents under saddle, with Alpha Saltor having two recent monte wins in emerging company for trainer Daniel Bethouart. But the surprise packet may just be Atlessima, a filly from the first crop of Love You son Rocklyn, who is from the powerful Ecurie Victoria Dreams barn of Jean-Philippe Dubois and trained by Philippe Moulin. She won her last star under saddle, the Prix Urgent, beating home Aston Fly and Al Capone Jet, who are entered here and the previous start was fifth in the group two Prix Annick Dreux in the bike, only half a second behind the super trio of Anastasia Fella, Avila and Axelle Dark. A filly on the way up, and as anyone who has followed the A-generation, it is the fillies who have ruled thus far. Other fillies who may figure in the money are Emmanuel Allard's consistent Quaker Jet daughter Alizea du Kastel and Laurent Claude Abrivard 's Agrippine, a daughter of Hasting while top jockey Yoann Lebourgeois is aboard the colt Airport who has a win last start under saddle and may be another one on the rise.
