A nine strong harness racing card greeted visitors to the Washington County Fairgrounds, known as Arden Downs, on Tuesday (August 14).Freshmen were featuredin both PA Sire Stake and Quaker Stake events.

Arden Downs, namesake of the Arden Downs Stakes and the home of the Washington County Fair, kicked off its annual two-day harness racing meeting with 3-year-olds in action in Pennsylvania Sire Stake and Quaker Stakes.

Freshmen faced the tight turns of the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Honesdale, PA on Sunday (July 22). In a $5866 harness racing division of the PA Sire Stake filly trot, Lady Broadway and driver Bryce Truitt earned a 2:10 win.

In the first $5,700 division of the colt trot, Order By Music was a winner for driver Kyle DiBenedetto, covering the mile in 2:08.4. Syl King leases and trains the winner, a son of Cantab Hall.

Cloudy skies and coolder temperatures greeted freshmen at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville, PA, as the half-miler hosted an 18-stong harness racing card on Thursday (July 19). VC Eclipse opened the card with a 2:08 victory - the first of his career - in a PA Sire Stake colt trot.

Tony Schadel led the way with three driving wins on his home track. Tony's brother, Todd Schadel, opened the card with a victory from one of his own trainees, Ballagio Hanover.

The Pennsylvania Fair Circuit headed east to Dauphin County,near Harrisburg, for Sire Stake harness racing at the Gratz Fairgrounds. Two-year-olds were featured on Saturday(July 14). Colt trotters began the day, and newcomer Broadway Setup (Broadway Hall) won his fair debut, scoring in 2:03.4 for owner, trainer, and driver Chris Offutt.

Freshman Pennsylvania-breds were in harness racing action at the Dayton Fairgrounds on Saturday (July 7), the first of two days of racing on the half-mile oval. Driver Brady Brown led the way with three victories on the afternoon, which featured seven first-time winners.

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to announce its 2012 MSOA Collegiate Scholarship harness racing winners. The awards will be formally presented in the winners circle on Adios Day at The Meadows, July 28.

The first Quaker Stakes of the season were held on Saturday (June 30) at the Big Butler Fairgrounds in Butler, PA. Quaker Stakes, for PA-sired or PA-owned harness racing horses, were featured in all four divisions.
