Fresh off a convincing win in the biggest harness racing event of the year for Illinois conceived and foaled trotting colts, Lincoln Land Stake winner Vaporstar romped to his second straight triumph destroying eight other diagonally gaited freshmen by 8-1/2 lengths in Wednesday's $48,700 Cardinal Stake at Balmoral Park.

The year's richest harness racing event for Illinois conceived and foaled two-year-old trotting colts was contested on Sunday night (October 2) at Balmoral Park as a field of 10 diagonally gaited youngsters battled in the $112,000 Lincoln Land Stake.

After some very impressive efforts by the youngsters in Saturday's Southland Festival of Racing elimination's at Balmoral Park the preliminary harness racing action continued on Sunday night with three-year-old trotting fillies battling in a pair of Fox Valley Evita Stake eliminations. State-bred sophomore pacing fillies were also in action as field of 10 met in $7,000 Ann Vonian Stake elimination.

The U.S.T.A.'s Back To The Track weekend was a hit at Maywood and Balmoral Park both on and off the track as non-stop racing action; giveaways and contests provided plenty of fun for harness racing fans of all ages.
