III Prix V and B Trophee Vert Finale at Craon, France (purse 70,000€, 2775 meters distance handicao) reined by Sebastien Hardy for trainer Dominique Charadame. It was the winner’s 20th career victory, now for 575,230€ in life earnings. Another 25-meter penalized performer, Ceylan Dairpet (7g Ouragon de Cellabnd-Rosy MIP) was second driven by Anthony Barrier for trainer Tony Le Beller. This 5/10 favorite was reined by Eric Raffin for owner/trainer Philippe Allaire, and he remains undefeated in four starts now for 107,100€ earned. J.P. Guay bred this fine colt. Race time was 1.16.9kr off slow fractions (1.18.9kr with 1000 meters remaining; 1.18.3kr at the 500 to go mark). 9/1 odds Gatsby Perrine (2m Bird Parker-Unabella Perrine) was a rallying just-beaten second for driver Anthony Barrier, trainer Allaire and breeder/owner J.F. Mary. 8.6/1 General du Parc (2m Lajacque d’Houlbec-Smazone du Parc) was a good third with Alexandre Abrivard up for trainer Frederic Prat. Belina Josselyn (4f Love You-Lezia Josselyn) and J-M Bazire was the upset (odds 6/1) winner of the Gr. II Prix Ariste Hemard (purse €120,000, 2700 meters, 11 four year-old female starters) rallying to defeat 7/10 favorite Billie de Montfort (4f Jasmin de Flore-Quismy de Montfort) handled by Eric Raffin for trainer Sebastien Guarato. 53/1 Bambina Magic (4f Nuage de Lait-Rive Magic) was third for Mathieu Mottier. Billie was away to an early lead and then relinquished to 3.6/1 odds Blue Grass that led until making a disqualifying miscue in mid-stretch. Billie was boxed on the pegs until driver Raffin vacated the pocket in early stretch, could not find an opening, and then darted back inside but could not out close the winner. As Billie moved back inside Blue Grass went off-stride.
