The duo’s 2019 schedule is as follows: Saturday, May 31: Camluck Classic Western Fair Raceway, London, ON Saturday, June 15: Pepsi North America Cup, Woodbine Mohawk Park, Milton, ON Saturday, July 13: Meadowlands Pace, Meadowlands Racetrack, East Rutherford, NJ Saturday, August 3: Hambletonian, Meadowlands Racetrack, East Rutherford, NJ Friday, August 9: Dan Patch Stakes, Harrah’s Hoosier Park, Anderson, IN Saturday, August 31: Canadian Pacing Derby, Woodbine Mohawk Park, Milton, ON Friday, September 20: Caesars Trotting Classic, Harrah’s Hoosier Park, Anderson, IN Friday, October 25: Breeders Crown, Woodbine Mohawk Park, Milton, ON Saturday, October 26: Breeders Crown, Woodbine Mohawk Park, Milton, ON   The Camluck Classic has kicked off the Mike & Mike schedule over the past three years and continues to be one of the most listened to remotes all year. The storied history behind the Camluck Classic is unprecedented and has featured many great winners including State Treasurer, who won the event three times. In 2018, Rockin Ron came close to being the tracks first sub-1:50 mile with a track record-setting 1:50.1 effort.  “We are pleased to partner with Post Time for our signature event again this season.  The additional distribution and exposure south of the border gives us a big boost,” said Western Fair’s Greg Blanchard. “This will be the second edition of the Camluck Classic (formerly the Molson Pace) and with the switch back to our traditional Friday night time slot we are looking forward to another exciting race and fun-filled night overall.” In 2018, Mike and Mike expanded their Canadian coverage to include the Pepsi North America Cup at Woodbine Mohawk Park. That tradition will continue this year when the pair returns to the famed facility to cover both The Pepsi North America Cup and Canadian Pacing Derby.  Both nights have a lot of history behind them and have produced some of racing’s greatest moments throughout the years. “We’re very happy to welcome back Post Time with Mike & Mike to Woodbine Mohawk Park in 2019,” said Mark McKelvie.  “Michael Carter and Michael Bozich have created a great brand and are a must-listen show, it only makes sense to have their on-site coverage of our marquee events.” Mike and Mike will return to Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment for the fourth straight year to help cover some of the sport’s top races. The premier events at the Meadowlands are the Meadowlands Pace and the Hambletonian. This will be the third year that the pair will be covering the historic events which have featured some of the best 3-year-old pacing and trotting races of all time. “We are excited once again to work with Mike and Mike to promote our two biggest events the Hambletonian and Meadowlands Pace.  Mike and Mike do an excellent job and we consider this program a plus for our sport,” said Jason Settlemoir of the Meadowlands. Another focus in 2019 will be a return to Harrah’s Hoosier Park where the duo will return for the fourth straight year. In 2018, the pair helped cover the beginning of Lazarus’ career when he scored a victory in the Dan Patch Stakes.  The duo returned in September to witness his second win at Hoosier Park in the Hoosier Pacing Derby.  The duo will cover both the Dan Patch and Pacing Derby, just a couple of Hoosier Park’s many stakes throughout the year. “At Harrah’s Hoosier Park we do everything in our power to make our big nights such as the Dan Patch Stakes, and Caesars Trotting Classic even bigger.  An integral part of that means making sure that Post Time with Mike and Mike is live and reporting from on-track.  As I have said in the past it’s not a big night if Mike & Mike are not there,” said Rick Moore, Vice President and General Manager of Racing at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. The crew joining Mike & Mike will look slightly different in 2019 as Nicholas “Ace” Barnsdale the son of esteemed handicapper Garnet Barnsdale begins work with the show.  The father Barnsdale, Taylor Johnston, and Rich Mattei will also continue to attribute their talents to the program. Jessica Otten who joined Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment will provide her expertise during a couple of remotes throughout the season. (Garnet) Barnsdale will help to co-host the Camluck Classic, Pepsi North America Cup, Canadian Pacing Derby, the Hambletonian, and the Breeders Crown. The younger Barnsdale will begin his time with Mike and Mike at the Camluck Classic in London.  Barnsdale is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Journalism program at the Humber College School of Journalism.  “Ace” has always had a keen interest in harness racing and is part-owner in 2-year-old trotting filly Knockdown Dragout who is set to debut this summer. Johnston joined the duo in 2017, helping to co-host the Dan Patch Stakes and filled roles during the Breeders Crown, assisting with paddock interviews. This year, she will join the duo at Harrah’s Hoosier Park for coverage of the Dan Patch Stakes and Caesars Trotting Classic working in the winners’ circle and providing her analysis of the races. Rich “The Natural” Mattei will also be handling some of the handicapping duties for the live events, providing in-depth analysis of the races. Larry and Jackie Drysdale, the husband and wife team that managed Winbak Farm of Canada for many years, celebrated their retirement last August. The saying however, "once harness racing gets into your blood, you're in it for life," has been proven to be more than just a catchphrase. It's no different with this husband/wife team. Soon after their retirement, the Drysdale's headed on an eight week Australian trip, they toured the top breeding farms the country had to offer. "It was really an experience," Larry Drysdale said. "Both countries are so great." After returning from down under, the duo headed to Florida to visit Jackie's mother, but also managed to visit some training centers to converse with owners and trainers. "It never gets out of your blood," Larry admitted. Larry's harness racing story began at, coincidentally, a major breeding farm. "I started with Armstrong Brothers here in Canada as a kid working with the yearlings," said the native of Acton, Ontario. "Then I moved to California to work for Joe O'Brien, where I spent four years." Drysdale returned to Canada in 1974 to work with Jack Kopas. After that, Drysdale returned to Armstrong Brothers to assist with their breeding operations, where he was to spend the next 25 years until Winbak Farm took over the operation. Drysdale met Winbak owner Joe Thomson at the Harrisburg sale, and shortly afterward was flown down to Maryland for an interview with Joe and his wife JoAnn. They hired Larry, along with his wife Jackie, to run Winbak Farm of Canada in 2005. Jackie was hired as an office manager, while Larry headed the breeding operation. The duo spent 13 years fronting the operation before their retirement in 2018. Jackie Drysdale, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, got her start in Kentucky looking after Thoroughbreds. "I started working with them at Keeneland, before my trainer relocated to Florida," Jackie said. "I didn't want to go." Shortly afterwards, Jackie got a job with Clear Creek Farm, where she took Standardbred yearlings to the sales. This is when she met Joe O'Brien. "I asked Joe if he needed any help in California and he said yes, and that's where I met Larry." The rest, as they say, is history. Eventually, Jackie moved with Larry to Canada, where they ended up at Winbak Farm. "I worked with the yearlings in the morning before I tended to my office work," Jackie said. As far as her duties at the office, Jackie processed breeding orders, took them to the lab, extend the semen, and shipped the orders out. "I was a Jackie of all trades," she quipped. Shortly after their retirement, the Drysdale's received an award from the Standardbred Ontario Breeders named after Chris Van Bussell, who was a driving force behind Seelster Farms and a Hall of Famer. "Chris was such a kind man with the highest of integrity. It was an honor to win an award named after him," Jackie said. Larry echoed those words. "That was very emotional, especially with my wife," Larry said. "We personally knew Chris (Van Bussel) and he was a good friend of ours. It really meant a lot." As far as what's ahead for Larry and Jackie, it will be a little of everything. "We plan on doing more traveling and spending time with our grandchildren," Jackie said. You can safely wager, despite retirement, that harness racing will remain a part of their lives forever. "Of course, I was at Winbak Farm this morning," joked Larry. by Mike Bozich
