East Rutherford, NJ - The Meadowlands is announcing the return of the Vincennes Invitational trot on Hambletonian Day, August 4 this year.   The Vincennes played an important role for many years as a compliment to harness racing's biggest day, providing a race for top older trotters that are not eligible to the marquee John Cashman Memorial. It also pays homage to our pari-mutuel partners the French PMU, a betting union controlled by France that takes wagers on the Hambo program.   Over the years a number of horses have used the Vincennes as a springboard to bigger and better things. Verlin Yoder's Natural Herbie came to the race in 2014 as a regional sensation from Indiana to gain national respect and win the International Preview later that season.   The purse for the 2018 Vincennes will be $30,000.   Interested parties should contact Meadowlands Director of Racing Peter J. Koch at (201) 842-5130.   by Nick Salvi, for the Meadowlands

Coming up this Sunday, January 29, 2017 is one of the great trotting events in the world, the Prix D'Amerique. Check out the great promo video (in English) by clicking here.  Here is another one in French that is super click here.

The Standardbred Retirement Foundation's (SRF) annual harness racing fundraiser to win a trip to the Prix d' Amerique was won by Bud Hatfield.   An Ohio resident, Bud's response was one of great surprise, stating, "I wasn't expecting this." Involved in racing for more than 35 years in so many capacities, Bud says he loves the sport. Most recently he has enjoyed great success as the owner of Bar Hopping, who will be standing at stud very shortly. Bud shared, "I worry about the animals we love after racing. SRF does a wonderful job."   This exciting trip will include a 4-day, 3-night stay and include a trip to the Grosbois Training Center; the international cocktail party; a tour of Vincennes Racecourse; the Prix d' Amerique and more. SRF thanks all who supported this fundraiser. "It is crucial to our being able to care for the 218 trotters and pacers under our complete care. We commend those who give back and hope others will follow," says Judith Bokman, SRF's Director. SRF has a shortfall and many mouths to feed; it is their hope that tax-deductible gifts will be received before the year closes to help the horses who give their all.
