Will go after the Cup-Pace double when elims are contested at the Big M a week from Saturday. Johansson: “He trained (Wednesday) morning along with Caviart (Rockland) and both were very good. They will train fast Saturday morning and then they should be ready to go.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 1st (1:47.2) 2 Bettor’s Wish ($639,556 – 1:49.3)   D. Dunn, C. Ryder Chris Ryder, Bella Racing, Fair Island Farm, Kenneth Solomon   Came up just short in The Cup. Can he score some revenge on his arch-rival Captain Crunch in the Pace? Ryder: “He’s good. We are going to qualify Saturday morning at the Meadowlands.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 2nd (1:47.3) 3 Workin Ona Mystery ($258,567 – 1:49)   T. Tetrick, B. The Pace will feature a rematch of the division’s Big Three. Brown: “He went a big mile in the North America Cup but I don’t think there will be any repercussions for The Pace. He’ll train on Friday or Saturday.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 3rd (1:47.3) 4 Best In Show ($96,163 – 1:50.3)   B. McClure, L. Toscano Richard P Young, Joanne Young, Craig W Henderson   Still inexperienced sort is headed for some Ontario Sire Stakes Gold action Saturday before returning to New Jersey to give The Pace a go. Toscano: “He’s good. I don’t love my draw (post 8) for Saturday (in the Ontario Sire Stakes Gold) but we decided to race instead of stay at the Meadowlands and qualify. If he can’t go with the sire stake horses, then he doesn’t belong with the others (in The Pace).” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 6th (1:48.2) 5 Air Force Hanover ($215,888 – 1:50.1)   D. Brown: “I’m very happy with him but he’s not quite as good as some of the other horses. I don’t think he’s coming to The Pace. We are looking more towards the Adios.” Last Race: 6/22 – PcD – Hempt Elimination – 2nd (1:49.1) 6 Proof ($476,299 – 1:48.1)   D. Miller, B. Brown Diamond Creek Racing   Reappears in the Top 10 after several weeks away off an impressive 1:48.1 score in his Hempt Elimination as the 4-5 favorite. Brown: “The week of training he had before that race was the best of his life. He was unbelievable last week. We’ll decide after the Hempt what we will do next, but I’m leaning towards the Meadowlands Pace.” Last Race: 6/22 – PcD – Hempt Elimination – 1st (1:48.1) 7 Hurrikane Emperor ($331,650 – 1:49.3)   D. McDermott: “His earplugs never got pulled. We accomplished what we needed to (by making it to the final). He scoped a little sick, so he’s been on anti-biotics and I expect him to be better on Saturday.” Last Race: 6/22 – PcD – Hempt Elimination – 2nd (1:49) 8 Captain Victorious ($180,271 – 1:48.3)   Y. Gingras, R. Burke The Captain V Stable If you did not see his mile in the Hempt, do yourself a favor and check it out. He was hounded every step of the way on the lead and won in decisive fashion to earn a spot in the Top 10 for the first time. Unbelievable!  Burke: “I wasn’t that surprised at how good he was. I was more surprised at how bad he was the start before (in the NA Cup). As for last week, when the track at Pocono is like it was, you can go far on the lead.” Last Race: 6/22 – PcD – Hempt Elimination – 1st (1:48.3) 9 De Los Cielos Deo ($217,758 – 1:48.4Q)   D. Burke: “I still think he’s the best colt I have. I think being off for two weeks is good for him. After the (1:48.4) qualifier followed by the big mile in his NA Cup Elim followed by the disaster in the final, he needs some time to recoup.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 7th (1:49.3) 10 Caviart Rockland ($93,265 – 1:50.3)   Y. Gingras, N. Johansson Caviart Farms   Finished second in a nice try in the NA Cup Consolation after pacing home in :27. Johansson: “If it sets up well and he gets a trip, he always closes very well, I think he has a legitimate shot to get a check in The Pace. It’s better for me to have them (Caviart Rockland and Captain Crunch) on two separate avenues as we get further into the season. Johansson 3 Brothers Stables, Christina Takter, Rojan Stables, Caviart Farms Rebounded in a big way in the North America Cup Final after jumping a shadow the week before in his elimination, scoring impressively after leaving the gate, coming after favorite Workin Ona Mystery, then holding off Bettor’s Wish in a dazzling performance. Johansson: “I don’t think he’s ever come alongside a horse and not won. The mile did not take a lot out of him. After the race, he was in the paddock and he felt like he was the King of the World. We are skipping the Hempt to go to the Meadowlands Pace.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 1st (1:47.2) 2 Bettor’s Wish ($639,556 – 1:49.3)   D. Dunn, C. Ryder Chris Ryder, Bella Racing, Fair Island Farm, Kenneth Solomon   Raced big but came up three-quarters-of-a-length short in his quest to stay unbeaten in five starts this year in a superb NA Cup effort. Ryder: “This horse is usually very relaxed but after the recall he got a little grabby in the race. I’m going to give him an easy week and get ready for the Meadowlands Pace.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 2nd (1:47.3) 3 Workin Ona Mystery ($258,567 – 1:49)   T. Tetrick, B. Brown Diamond Creek Racing, Stambaugh Leeman Stable, Alan Keith, Wingfield Brothers   The 7-5 NA Cup favorite reached three-quarters on the point in 1:20 before settling for third, only his second career defeat in 10 starts. Brown: “He was really good. Tough trip. When you go for a million it ain’t going to be easy. We’ll try it again Meadowlands Pace night.” A rematch of the division’s Big Three is something worth looking forward to. Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 3rd (1:47.3) 4 Best In Show ($96,163 – 1:50.3)   B. McClure, L. Toscano Richard P Young, Joanne Young, Craig W Henderson   Came close to getting the final check in The Cup, finishing sixth in 1:48.2 in just his ninth career start. Toscano: “He checked a little bit at the half. He was just getting a full head of steam and then got startled. Every week for this colt has been an education. We’ll go in the (Ontario Sire Stakes) Gold next Saturday then come back for the Meadowlands Pace.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 6th (1:48.2) 5 Air Force Hanover ($209,638 – 1:50.1)   Y. Gingras, B. Brown Country Club Acres Inc., Joe Sbrocco, Richard M Lombardo, W J Donovan   Failed to qualify for the final, finished a respectable third in the consolation as the third choice to Century Farroh. Brown: “He couldn’t get all the way to the wire up there (at Mohawk). He showed some blood. He’s in the Hempt, and hopefully, we can control his bleeding with a higher dose of Lasix.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Consolation – 3rd (1:50) 6 Hurrikane Emperor ($325,400 – 1:49.3)   D. Dube, J. McDermott Jonathan Klee Racing, Kuhen Racing, Pegasis Investment Group, William Garofalo   It was not his night at The ‘Hawk, was never close in The Cup but did kick home in :27.1 – which was the second fastest final quarter in the race – to finish eighth. McDermott: “He just wasn’t comfortable in the NA Cup. He was rough-gaited but had tons of pace late. I’m changing his shoes and he drew well for the Hempt.”  Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 8th (1:49.3) 7 De Los Cielos Deo ($217,758 – 1:48.4Q)   D. Miller, R. Burke Burke Racing Stable LLC, Lawrence R Karr, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, Weaver Bruscemi LLC     He was a hot item at the windows, being sent to the gate as the 3-1 second choice in the wagering, but did not live up to that billing, finishing seventh in The Cup. Burke: “Hate to make excuses, but this horse did not do well after the recall. Maybe something scared him. Normally, he would be fine. We’ll skip the Hempt and go to the Meadowlands Pace.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Final – 7th (1:49.3) 8 Buddy Hill ($112,431 – 1:52)   J. Bartlett, M. Melander Tom Hill     Makes his first appearance in the Top 10 by registering a sharp win over Reigning Deo in 1:52 at Tioga for just his second lifetime victory. Melander: “We were very happy with him at Tioga. Tough half on a sloppy track. He’ll be at Yonkers next Thursday in the New York Sire Stakes. He’s staked to everything.” Last Race: 6/16 – TgD – New York Sire Stakes – 1st (1:52) 9 Caviart Rockland ($93,265 – 1:50.3)   Y. Gingras, N. Johansson Caviart Farms   Breaks into the Top 10 after finishing second in a nice try in the NA Cup Consolation after pacing home in :27. Johansson: “He raced super. Had the roles been reversed (racing from off the pace instead of on the lead) I think he would have gotten there. We have some options to get him a race before The Pace.” Last Race: 6/15 – WMP – North America Cup Consolation – 2nd (1:49.1) 10 Reigning Deo ($288,725 – 1:54.1Q)   A. McCarthy, B. Pelling Deo Volente Farms, Pelling Racing, Brian Gordon   Went a First-over trip on the way to a fourth-place finish in the New York Sire Stakes at Tioga in his last start. Pelling: “He just needs to be better. I need to back off and let him do his thing. He’s a sound, lovely horse but things have to go his way. He’ll race next Thursday at Yonkers.” Last Race: 6/16 – TgD – New York Sire Stakes – 4th (1:52.4)   KEY PREP RACES MEADOWLANDS PACE ELIGIBLES IN CAPS – Supplements are permitted per the conditions of the race Date Stakes Site Winner Trainer Driver 2nd Horse 3rd Horse Time 5/4 Pa. Bettor's Wish has taken over the top spot in the Week 7 edition of Dave Little's "Road to the Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace" off a sharp score in his North America Cup Elimination, with the other harness racing elim winner, Workin Ona Mystery, now in the second spot. Captain Crunch dropped to No. 3 after a fifth-place finish in his elim, but his connections remain confident about Saturday night's final.  #PaceYourself19   Rank Horse (Earnings – Mark) Driver, Trainer Owner(s) Dave Little’s Comments 1 Bettor’s Wish ($470,806 – 1:49.3)   D. Dunn, C. Ryder Chris Ryder, Bella Racing, Fair Island Farm, Kenneth Solomon   Rooney champion takes over the top spot after a pocket-trip win in the stronger of the two North America Cup Elims in 1:49.3 to stay unbeaten in four starts in 2019. Opted for post 3 in the final. Ryder: “He came out of the race great. Nothing worries me with this horse because nothing worries him. If you look in the program, 5 and 6 are the best posts, but we decided before the draw we’d take 3 or 4. If he wasn’t so handy off the gate, I might have taken 5.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 1st (1:49.3) 2 Workin Ona Mystery ($177,567 – 1:49)   T. Tetrick, B. Brown Diamond Creek Racing, Stambaugh Leeman Stable, Alan Keith, Wingfield Brothers   Moved to the top at the quarter and cruised home from there to take Elim 2 in 1:49 as the 4-5 favorite, upping his seasonal stats to 3 wins in 3 starts and 8-for-9 lifetime. Connections took post 4 for Saturday night. Brown: “The post was Timmy’s decision, because he has a game plan in his head. I was amazed after the race. We scoped Mystery and he had a lot of mucus, probably due to allergies. He’s been in an oxygen chamber this week in an effort to clear it up. I like my chances in the final.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 1st (1:49) 3 Captain Crunch ($675,806 – 1:49.1)   S. Zeron, N. Johansson 3 Brothers Stables, Christina Takter, Rojan Stables, Caviart Farms Lost his stranglehold atop the poll after avoiding some shadows and going off stride early in Elim 1 as the 1-2 favorite, then had to surge late to finish fifth and claim a spot in the final. Johansson: “He raced a monstrous mile to catch the field. I think he showed a lot of grit and determination.” So, Nancy, who’s the horse to beat in the NA Cup? “Captain Crunch!” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 5th (1:50.1) 4 Hurrikane Emperor ($317,900 – 1:49.3)   D. Dube, J. McDermott Jonathan Klee Racing, Kuhen Racing, Pegasis Investment Group, William Garofalo   Led to the stretch before settling for fourth to Bettor’s Wish, beaten 2¼ lengths in his elim. Has good early speed and will need it, having drawn post 9 for the final. McDermott: “He was doing something I didn’t like in the last turn, so I changed his rigging a little. There is going to be a lot of action in the first eighth of a mile in the final. I think we’ll be parked the mile, but it could work out as there will be a good outer flow.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 4th (1:50) 5 Best In Show ($88,663 – 1:50.3)   B. McClure, L. Toscano Richard P Young, Joanne Young, Craig W Henderson   Did good things in Elim 1, closing in :26 to finish third to Bettor’s Wish, and has drawn post 7 for the final. Toscano: “I was tickled with his effort. he’s gone from non-winners of 2 to the North America Cup in a matter of 3 starts. He’s doing everything I could ask of him. He’s still learning.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 3rd (1:50) 6 De Los Cielos Deo ($210,258 – 1:48.4Q)   D. Miller, R. Burke Burke Racing Stable LLC, Lawrence R Karr, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, Weaver Bruscemi LLC     Bursts onto the Road to the Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace scene by finishing second to Bettor’s Wish in Elim 1 after exploding home in :25, which came one week after a sparkling 1:48.4 qualifier at the Meadowlands. Will depart from post 2 in the final. Burke: “Off the 48 qualifier, I figured he was probably pretty sharp. Nothing this year had gone right for him until that qualifier. I always thought he would be my best horse in a long time.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 2nd (1:49.4) 7 Captain Victorious ($160,271 – 1:51Q)   Y. Gingras, R. Burke The Captain V Stable     Another who makes his RTTCFMP debut for the Burke Brigade. Rallied for second in Elim 2 at odds of 60-1, beating Stag Party to the wire while finishing just 1¼ lengths behind Workin Ona Mystery. Has drawn post 5 for the final. Burke: “He’s super sharp. His stomach was screwed up earlier this year. Then I started changing things up. From here on out, we’ll see if my two colts fit with this group.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 2nd (1:49.1) 8 Air Force Hanover ($202,888 – 1:50.1)   Y. Gingras, B. Brown Country Club Acres Inc., Joe Sbrocco, Richard M Lombardo, W J Donovan   Got nailed at the wire by Captain Crunch in Elim 1 to just miss getting into the final. Will leave from the rail in the NA Cup Consolation Saturday. Brown: “He didn’t scope well, either, but did not have as much mucus as Workin Ona Mystery. We are treating him in Ohio with a nebulizer.” Last Race: 6/8 – WMP – North America Cup Elimination – 6th (1:50.2) 9 Love Me Some Lou ($205,099 – 1:50.4)   D. Miller, T. Cancelliere J. Cancelliere   Hasn’t been out since a second-place finish at the hands of Workin Ona Mystery after leaving quickly from post 8 and going an inside trip the rest of the way at Pocono four weeks ago. He is not in to go this week. Last Race: 5/19 – PcD – Pennsylvania Sire Stakes – 2nd (1:50.3) 10 Reigning Deo ($285,669 – 1:54.1Q)   A. McCarthy, B. Pelling Deo Volente Farms, Pelling Racing, Brian Gordon   Went a second-over trip on the way to a third-place finish in the New York Sire Stakes at Buffalo in his last start. He goes next in the NYSS at Tioga on Sunday. Pelling: “I think our path is right. At Tioga, we get to stretch out. They get to go fast. We should know where we are at after this. He is staked to everything.” Last Race: 6/5 – BR – New York Sire Stakes – 3rd (1:54.4)   Rachel Ryan
