November 12, 2017 - 7.7/1 BBS Sugarlight (8g Super Light-Sugarsweet Sid) won Sunday’s Gr. II Prix de Giganten, sponsored by HODIJ Holdings, for driver Vidar Hop, at Victoria Park, Wolvega. The winner scored narrowly over 9/10 favorite Anna Mix (7f Ludo de Castelle-Ires) reined by Franck Nivard for owner/trainer Franck Leblanc. 20.6/1 Totem d’Azur (10g Joao Panca-Heidi d’Indienne) was third. Each of these achieved their result by placing as dominant wire to wire winner 3.6/1 Ringostarr Treb (7g Classic Photo-Farsalo Egral), driven by Wim Paal, was disqualified for going inside pylons on the final bend. November 13, 2015 - Vidar Hop teamed Norway’s B.B.S. Sugarlight (7g Super Light-Sugarsweet Sid) to a gate to wire harness racing victory in today’s Prix des Geants (purse €61,600, 2100 meters, 11 starters before two scratches – Coldtown and Voltigeur de Myrt) at Holland’s Wolvega Victoria Park racecourse. The Frederick Solberg trainee, at 6.9/1, scored narrowly timed in 1.13.4kr for Stall Sugarlight and Gunnar Karlsen, a photo finish victory over 8.1/1 Diamond (6g Classic Photo-Gala dei Bessi) driven by Robin Bakker for trainer P.J.P Hagoort and owner Stal Mille Fleurs BV. 9.7/1 Rocky Winner (8m Credit Winner-Level Fortytwo) was third for Gabriel Gerlormini and trainer Jorgen Westholm with fourth to 14/1 Duke Of Greenwood (6m Otello Pierji-Nikki Groenhof) with Jos. Veteran B.B.S. Sugarlight (7g Super Light-Sugarsweet Sid-Sugarcane Hanover) won Saturday’s V75 Gold Olympiatravet Trial for 150,000SEK (US$18,395) to the winner. B.B.S. Sugarlight was timed in 1.10.8kr, a new course record at Axevalla, after fast early fractions. The race distance was 2140 meters, autostart. Peter Untersteiner teamed the winner that now has a 20-15-11 slate in 73 career starts for earnings in excess of 6,672,000SEK. Off at 2.8/1, the winner bested Sauveur (6m Echo-Operah Bob-Easy Lover) and driver Ake Lindblom with third to Norway’s Papagayo E (6m Coktail Jet-Ann Speedy T-Speedy Tomali) handled by UIlf Ohlsson. Venkatesh and Global Money were fourth and fifth. The upcoming Olympia Final (April 30 at Aby Racecourse) will reportedly include B.B.S. Sugarlight, On Track Piraten, Anna Mix and Your Highness, the latter a solid winner this day at Paris-Vincennes in a non-groupe event. The Gr. June 14, 2015 - Swedish bred, Norwegian trained BBS Sugarlight (6g Super Light-Sugarsweet Sid-Sugarcane Hanover) took over from then pocketed Oasis Bi before the halfway mark, and led to the line for teamster Peter Untersteiner and harness racing trainer Fredrik Solberg to win the VG Oslo Grand Prix (Gr. I International UET Masters Series, 2100 meters autostart, 10 starters with 1.5Nokr to the winner). Stall Sugarlight and Gunnar Karlson owns the winner, clocked today in 1.11.3kr, that now has a 2015 slate of 2-1-2-1 in seven starts and a career of 19-12-8-5 in 64 starts for 5,423,081 Nokr earned. He previously won the 2015 Olympic Trot. Italy’s Oasis Bi (7m Toss Out-Up Front JM-Self Possessed) escaped the pocket late and was beaten half-length for Bjorn Goop and trainer Stefan P. Pettersson. Norway’s Papagayo E (5m Coktail Jet-Ann Speedy T-Speedy Tomali) was a very fast closing third for Vidar Hop and trainer Egil Stensrud. Mosaique Face, Support Justice, Univers de Pan and Trebol were next in that order. Univers de Pan trailed the field until a wide rally in the stretch. Trebol had a three hole journey on the pegs behind Oasis Bi but chose to vacate that cover with a quarter to go and it hurt his chances for a better placing. B.B.S. Sugarlight was the 2.7/1 favorite with 12.4/1 for Oasis Bi and 6.5/1 odds for Papagayo E on the Rikstoto system. This was a superb Bjerke racing card, presented very professionally and conducted before a huge crowd, ultimately excited by the great finish by Norwegian horses. Steinlager was the last Norwegian campaigner to win this classic ten years ago. April 25, 2015 - Harness racing driver Peter Untersteiner steered BBS Sugarlight (6g Super Light-Sugarsweet Sid) to victory at 8/1 odds in Saturday’s Olympiatravet (€295,515 purse, Gr. I with 10 international starters, 2140 meters autostart) defeating fast closing 19/1 Oasis Bi (7m Toss Out-Up Front JM) and Bjorn Goop by three lengths. Voltigeur de Myrt (6m Opus Viervil-Myrtille des Bois) was third at 8/1 for Gabrielle Gelormini. Favorite Support Justice (6m Kadabra-Artisane) was fourth for G-V Gundersen ahead of Princess Grif and Maven, The winner was clocked in 2:31.3 (1.10.7kr) and the result illustrates the depth of talent among European fast-class performers.
