The 5.9/1 odds Fashion Queen (4f Ready Cash-Usenza) took this evenings Gr. III Prix Pierre Van Troyen (purse 74,000€, 2850 meters, seven starters) at Paris-Vincennes. Eric Raffin teamed the Philippe Allaire trainee owned by J-M Tessier to the 1.14.4kr timed victory, her sixth in a 20 race career that so far has produced life earnings of 215,460€. The 8/10 favorite Freyja du Pont (4f Quinoa du Gers-Parade du Pont) was second for trainer/drive Jean Michel Bazire that is owned by Albert Rayon. Third was 4.6/1 Electra Jet (5f Ready Cash-Olivia Jet) that trainer Pierre Vercruysse teamed for Ecurie des As and this one was bred by Jean Etienne Dubois (more to follow). The day’s Q+ race was the Prix du Pays de Gex Aglo (purse 49,000€, 2850 meters, 16 starters) with that victory to 1.12.9kr timed and even-money favorite Darling Barry (6f Prince Gede-Osaka Berry) with owner/trainer Jean Michel Bazire aboard. This was her 10th career win in 33 starts now for 229,340€ earned. The 15/1 Desiree de Landes and 8.8/1 Dascalia trailed the winner. There were 395 winning Q+ exact order tickets that each paid 2,037.80€. Total handle on the race exceeded 7,420,000€ with 3,604,042€ in the Q+ pool. The two year colts were next up in the Prix Louis Cauchuis (Gr. III, purse 54,000€, 2200 meters, nine starters) and the 1.15.5kr clocked winner was the 5/10 favorite Helgafell (2m Charly du Noyer-Baaria) reined by Eric Raffin for Ecurie Normandy Spirit and trainer Philippe Allaire. He scored for the third time in four starts to raise his life earnings to 65,700€. 3.7/1 Heart of Gold (2m Bird Parker) took second for owner/trainer Allaire. The Gr. III Prix Marcel Dejean followed, an event for two year old fillies, and raced over 2200 meters by 12 starters for the 54,000€ purse. On the undercard was the Prix Gisela (purse 38,000€, 2850 meters, 15 starters) and 9/1 Giant Celebrity (3f Love You-Ida Bourbon) scored for Jean Philippe Dubois, trainer Philippe Moulin and Ecurie Victoria Dreams. She was timed in 1.14.6kr. The dam Ida Bourbon is a foal of 1996 and dam of Royal Dream, the Prix d’Amerique winner of 1,591,310€, he a foal of 2005. At Enghien on Wednesday was the Prix de la Porte Chaumont (purse 29,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 16 starters) and it saw a maiden victory for 21/1 Gourgandine (3f Bold Eagle-Udine) clocked in 1.14.9kr. She is owned by breeder Jean Pierre Dubois and is newly trained by Kevin Vanderschelden to her first win in nine outings now for 25,180€ earned. Her dam is a daughter of Coktail Jet-Idylle that won 13 times for 281,110€ earned. The Dubois name, associated several times above in recent races in France, also appeared this week in Australia at Melton Tabcorp Park, with Jean Etienne Dubois driving his My Tribeca (5f Goetmals Wood-Image-Coktail Jet) to victory at a mile rate of 1.59.2. Dubois now lives in New South Wales and formerly won the Prix d’Amerique and Elitloppet. He currently most notable racehorse, Bold Eagle, a horse he bred and developed, goes tonight in the Breeders Crown at Mohawk Woodbine Park near Toronto. Today’s Prix Isara (purse 80,000€, 2850 meters distance handicap, 15 starters) at Vincennes, France brought out several Winter Meet harness racing stars (Davidson du Pont, Belina Josselyn, Delia du Pommereux, Carat Williams, Django Riff).  For some the aim was victory, for others it was a workout. This made 1.4/1 Dark Night Love (6f Royal Lover-Querida de Vonnas) the favorite and for good reason as the J-M Bazire trainee scored, timed in 1.13.9kr for breeder/owner Sebastien Moureaux. It was her 11th career victory in 25 outings now for 295,100€ earned. This one faced no distance handicap. The 21/1 Delia du Pommereux (6f Niky-Noune du Pommereux) was second for Franck Nivard overcoming a 25-meter penalty and trained by Sylvain Roger for breeder/owner Noel Lolic. 2.6/1 Carat Williams (7m Prodigious-Miss Williams) was third for David Thomain and trainer Sebastien Guarato, he facing the 25-meter handicap. The 15/1 Django Riff (6m Ready Cash) was fourth. The handicapped starts were off the board – Express Jet seventh, Davison du Pont tenth, Belina Josselyn 14th. On the undercard was the Prix Timucharia (purse 70,000€, Gr. III Prix California (purse 74,000€, 2850 meters, eight starters) completed the top-level action and in this one 2/1 Éclair du Mirel (5m Orlando Vici-Tentation du Mirel) scored timed in 1.12.8kr with Matthieu Abrivard up. A superb harness racing program and superb fall weather made the Saturday Kincsem Park environment special, Three classic races took place, each with purses at 1.5Huf million or better.   Two- year olds took the stage first in the Ketevesek Nagydija (purse 2,000,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart) and the impressive 1.20.8kr timed victory went to 1.2/1 Bazsiville (2g Calypso Capar-Izaville-Endless Sands) for trainer/driver Imre Fazekas. Stablemate Brilians BD (2f Brillantissime-Ici Love-Love You) was second teamed with Andrea Nagyvary. Third was Brom Lady (2f Maximus Lindy-Titan Lady-Ata Star L) for Balazs Juhasz.   The winner is sired by Calypso Capar, a stakes winning son of Supergill, that has shown well with his progeny in Hungary.   Open trotters engaged in the Ropke DIJ (purse 600,000Huf, 1900 meters autostart) with the 1.17.1kr score to 1.2/1 Uran Lady (6f Maximus Lindy-Vas Lady-Endless Sands) handled by her trainer Veljko Mazsity. Ubu Kiraly (6m Vioxx SR-Helikan-Awesome Goal) was second for Lajos Marton with the third check earned by Henrik Ibsen AT (7m Worship-Her Own Child-Impossant Sund) and reinsman Csaba Lakatos.   Uran Lady   The classic continued with the Oszi Kanca DIJ (purse 1,500,000Huf, 1960 meters distance handicap). The 3/2 favorite Adriana Asti (3f Frullino Jet-Cameron Diaz-Baltic Speed) earned the victory for Veljko Mazsity aboard. She defeated the 40 meter handicapped Zona (4f Offenbach Bigi-Kuma-Valley Guardian) with Emil Csordas up and the third finishing Ann Bella M (3f Cigar Dan-Malhana Serey-Malhana Sascha) reined by Branislav Mukity.   Adriana Asti   Aged trotters battled in the featured Koztarcasagi DIJ (purse 2,000,000Huf, 2400 meters autostart) with the 1.17.8kr victory earned by 6.9/1 Zseneroz (4f SJs Photo-Hitelezo-Witsends Speedy) reined by Mitja Slavic to his fourth win in five 2019 starts in HU. The classy 1.1/1 harness racing favorite Orlando Jet (6m Orlando Vici-Chicolina) won today’s Graf Kalman Hunyady Gedenkrennen at the historic Krieau racetrack in Vienna, Austria, a track that opened in 1878 (the Central Moscow Hippodrome opened in 1834).   The purse was 25,000€ and the distance was 2600 meters autostart.   Eight horses contested this one and Orlando Jet with trainer Rudolf Haller aboard for Team Neuhof, circled the field on the first lap and drew away from his rivals in the final bend. Race time was 1.14.3kr and the victory increased Orlando Jet’s life earnings to 383,251€. October 18, 2019 - The fall Caen Trotteurs harness racing sale was completed with sessions on October 15-16. In total there were 823 lots consigned, 685 lots being yearlings. Below is the total sale results and the October 15-16 summary. We reported the prior days last week. The sale topper on October 15 was the yearling colt Igor du Regency, a son of Orlando Vici, that brought 29,000€ from Philippe Dewulf. Philippe Dewulf pedigree The October 16th sale topper was hip 822, a weanling filly names Juventus du Klau (wf, Cash And Go-Kitty-Coktail Jet), that brought 21,000€ from Alain Dambrires. The fourth leg of the traveling Trotteur Francais series was the Grand Prix Gelsenkirchen (purse 50,000€, 2600 meters autostart, 12 starters International) in Germany and it went to 1.14.9kr timed and 5.1/1 odds Discovry Dry (6g Goetmals Wood-L’Etoile Dry) reined by his harness racing trainer Tony Le Beller.   The victory increased his life earnings to 184,850€. Favorite Billie de Montfort (8g Jasmin de Flore-Quismy de Montfort) was second off at 1.2/1 odds and with Gabriele Gelormini up for trainer Sebastien Guarato.   15/1 Balando (8m Nijinski Blue-Quitalia) was third for pilot Rick Wester. Defi de Retz (6m First de Retz-Nouvelle d’Atout) took this 11th leg of the Grand National de Trot at Feurs (Gr. III, purse 85,000€, 2850 meters distance handicap), reined by Alexandre Abrivard for harness racing trainer Jean Michel Bazire and breeder/owner Ottavia Roffi-Urano.   This was his 12 th career victory for 264,480€ in life earnings. Second was Cocktail Desbois (7g Coktail Jet-Queen Goulette) with Eric Raffin up for trainer J-M Baudouin. October 19, 2019 - Below are the Orsi Mangelli Open and Filly division eligibles for those harness racing tests on November 1 at Torino. The Open Gr. I division races for a purse of 363,000€ and will likely be led by Axl Rose, the impressive colt from the Gocciadoro barn. France will send General du Parc and Girls Talk into the fray as likely competitors. Veteran harness racing trotter Bugsy Malone (8g Ready Cash-Night Captain) overcame a 50-meter handicap to easily win the Prix de la Ville de Caen (Gr. III, 65,000€ purse, 4400 meters distance handicap, International 17 starters) at Hippodrome Caen, clocked in 1.14.6kr.   Yoann Lebourgeois teamed by Philippe Allaire owned and trained class-master that was bred by Christian Simon. The win raised Bugsy’s life earnings to 856,630€.   He defeated Copernis de Play (7g Giant Cat-Orelie des Play) that was reined by breeder/owner Franck Blandin. Third home was the 25-meter handicapped Ange de Lune (9g Laetenter Diem-Kera Elle) with Matthieu Abrivard up, he the trainer/owner. Estola, Nancy America and Vainqueur RP were next to the line. Cleangame (7g Ouragon du Celland-Red Bell) took today’s 42nd edition of the Grand Prix du Sud-Ouest (purse 150,000€, 2750 meters autostart) held at Toulouse La Cepiere in France. Trainer Jean Michel Bazire teamed the 3/10 favorite to his 28th career victory in 45 starts now for 1,050,870€ earned. In winning this Gr. II UET Masters Series 2019 event.  Cleangame has replaced the late stablemate Aubrion du Gers as Bazire’s top trotteur. He is owned by J-M Rancoule and was bred by Alain Louis Beaumont. Today Cleangame raced in the death seat for much of the journey before moving to the lead off the final bend. He bested 11/1 Balbir (8g Ganymede-Manzir( with Mickael Cormy the driver/trainer and third finishing 16/1 Bilooka du Boscail (8f Look de Star-Mirza di Vicie) with Yves Hurel aboard. Trebol (12m Hot Blues-Sally Can Wait) had his win streak ended at 56 today at the Hipodrom Torre del Ram as he finished third in the Premi NIT de Llevant (600€ purse, 2100 meters autostart) to the winning Cuore des Pres (7g Allison Hollow-Laica des Pres) that was clocked in 1.15kr, his lifetime speed record. He recorded his 27th career victory in 115 starts. Goliat de Clide (3m Infinitif-Ona de Clide SB) was second and his career record now stands at 12 wins in 18 outings. Trebol had earned 56 consecutive victories before today starting in 2017 when he won eight in a row followed by 28 and 20 in 2018 and 2019. He now shows 88 career wins in 151 starts for 688,006€ earned. His pedigree is shown below and the long winning streak is one for the record book that may not be beaten anytime soon. The 5.2/1 odds Winoc SB (5g Sholty Boko-Kitti-Valley Guardian) took today’s Evi Segedhajro Kupa (purse 400,000Huf, 1900 meters autostart) at Kincsem Park, clocked in 1.17.5kr with Kitti Fajszes at the lines for trainer Zoltan Horvath.  The victory was his second in only eight 2019 appearances. ZSwarovski (8g Simb Illusion) was a rallying second for driver Balint Nyilasi and trainer Jozsef Rutkai. Third was Pozsony (10f Wall Street Banker) with Peter Erdei the reinsman. In the pre-wagering card newly appearing two year olds continued to make their debut and this day Firefly Shadow (2f Farifant-Lightyear Blabjerq) qualified in 1.22.8kr over 1800 meters autostart. Roland Balogh teamed the Rutkai trainee that was sired by Farifant (2002 m, And Arifant-Bahama-Coktail Jet) that raced as an aged performer in the USA for Team Lorentzen and then returned to Finland for stallion duty. Face Time Bourbon (4m Ready Cash-Vita Bourbon-Love You) easily won today’s UET 400,000€ Grand Prix held at Vermo racecourse, Helsinki, Finland. Harness racing driver Bjorn Goop reined the 1.48/1 odds favorite for trainer Sebastien Guarato and owner Scuderia Bivans Srl. The victory was his 16th in a 19 race career now for 933,550€ earned after the 200,000€ first prize today. Goop had the winner placed third on the pegs early from post four and then moved behind cover with a lap remaining. He then brushed three wide on the backside of the last lap and it was essentially over. Face Time Bourbon, perhaps the top four year old in Europe, was a five length winner over Frisbee d’Am (4m The Best Madrik-Miska des Rondes-Extreme Aunou) piloted by Alexandre Abrivard and Mister F Daag (4m Conway Hall-Miss Love-Love You) with Robin Bakker teaming for Paul Hagoort. Race time was 1.10.7kr over the 2120 meter autostart course. Chart and photos follow: Earlier on the Vermo card was the EM-3 for 60,000€ to the winner of this 2120 meter autostart test. The undefeated Ecurie D (3m Infinitif-To Soon-Muscle Yankee) remained so for teamster Bjorn Goop and timed in 1.13.5kr. It was not without a scare as the 1.3/1 favorite was offstride before the start and far behind the field. He caught the rivals at the halfway point and Goop patiently waited until the final bend before engaging the leaders. In the lane he was much the best and defeated Golden Dream ME (3m Buzzin Brian-TJ Mixy-Armbro Plush) with Noralf P. Braekken up and the third finishing Raskolnikov Frido (3m Muscle Hill-Hulda Frido-Love You) reined by Santtu Raitala. The winner is trained by Frode Hamre for owner Jean Pierre Dubois and now has an eight-race win streak. Between these events was the EM-5 for 50,000€ to the winner of the 2120 meters autostart event.
