Sunday’s 10th leg of the Trophee Vert Series was at Saint Jean de Monts, raced over 2625 meters distance handicapped, by 16 entrants for the total purse 45.000 euro. It was the 4/5 favorite Bugsy Malone (7g Ready Cash-Night Captain) prevailing for driver Yoann Lebourgeois and owner/trainer Philippe Allaire, timed in 1.16.1kr.  The winner overcame a 50 meter handicap to record his fifth victory in the series and 24th career win in 44 starts now for 679,310 euro earned. The victory moved Bugsy to the top in the series points standings with 79, versus Bebert Express’ 70 points. The point winner at series end earns 100,000 euro. The 8.6/1 Capital Charm (6g Password-Molly Charm) was second today for driver Eric Raffin, trainer Gregory Thorel and Ecurie Victoria Dreams. Jean Philippe Dubois bred this one. It was also announced that the August 5th battle between Bold Eagle and Aubrion du Gers at the Gr. I Grand Prix de Wallonie at Mons Ghlin may not occur. Bold Eagle has been treated for back lameness following his last start at the La Capelle TGV and will miss the Mons contest. The even-money favorite Bugsy Malone (7g Ready Cash-Night Captain) was an easy winner on the turf from post 18 and a 50 meter penalty timed in 1.16.8kr and driven by Yoann Lebourgeois. Phillipe Allaire trains and owns the now 22 time winner in just 42 career appearances good for 638,810 euro earned. The 6.4/1 Viking Fromentro (9g Capriccio-Orminda) was second overcoming a 25 meter handicap in rein to trainer Thomas Levesque. The 58/1 Utile Lebel (10g Biesolo) was third for driver Anthony Honore, he too a 25 meter penalized performer. At odds of 23/1 Verazano Bridge (7g Offshore Dream), 28/1 Voici du Roco (9g l’As de Boussieres, and 23/1 Anette du Mirel (8f Laetenter Diem) were the next three to the line. This Robert Bergh trainee is owned by Christer Englund and the winner bested 9/2 Direct Way (4g Quaker Jet-Queen Flore) handled by Anthony Barrier for trainer Philippe Allaire. 27/1 Diable de Vauvert (4m Prince d’Espace-Pop Star) was third for David Thomain. 15/1 Dream de Nilrem and 1.8/1 Rajesh Face were the next pair to the line creating a €6,755 payoff for a €2 play. Other winners on the Vincennes program included 17/1 Ezio Josselyn (3m Prodigious-Lezira Josselyn) for driver Bjorn Goop in the €60,000 Prix Jean Maurice Beteau. This horse, that once bested Bold Eagle, is owned and trainer by Philippe Allaire. 8/1 Bilibili (6g Niky-Quetty du Donjon) was second ridden by Alexandre Abrivard for breeder/owner Jean Pierre Barjon and trainer L.Cl. Traders, by this win, claims a bid to the lucrative Grand Prix de Cornulier the Sunday before the Prix d’Amerique, that carries a purse of €700,000 and is the richest monte event in the world. August 20, 2017 - The 7/10 favorite Bugsy Malone (6g Ready Cash-Night Captain) was clearly the best in the Prix Montier (turf, purse €45,000, 3000 meters, 11 starters) at Montier en Der. He started from the back and raced that way for a lap before starting a following three wide move to the front with a lap remaining. Under little urging from Yoann Lebourgeois, Bugsy rolled to a huge lead stopping the clock in 1.15.6kr, quick for turf and the distance. Bugsy now has 18 career wins in 34 starts for €543,060 earned. Philippe Allaire owns and trains this winner. 2.6/1 Uniflosa Bella (9f Jag de Bellouet-Koctiflosa Gede) was second for Antoine Wiels and 24/1 Ugo Dacheux was third for Franck Ouvrie.
