Ideal News had her winning streak snapped at five by her own entrymate, Copywriter, in the third race, the second of the two eliminations. Unspoken (third), Righteous Renee (fourth) and Secret Ideal (fifth) also qualified for the final. There was no show wagering.

Copywriter, driven by Ron Pierce and trained by Noel Daley, scored a ½ length tally in a lifetime best of 1.52.2. The Artsplace filly has two wins in three starts this year for owner-breeder Brittany Farms of Versailles, Kentucky.
